what is Firmware??? what does it do?

The firmware (in the case of the 57) controls all the functions of the mixer. It controls the fader curves and the EQ slopes, it also controls all of the effects. When Rane/Serato release new effects (finally) you will have to load a new firmware to see them.

you mean on the software?? ....like the visuals of the mixer on the cpu screen??

yes its like software... but it built into the mixer and you cant acess it directly like you can software on the computer and change stuff. Its embeded in the chips! but serato can write updates to upgrade the firmware to fix issues and to add funcionality to the hardware!

Firmware is software that controls hardware. Think of the ttm57 as it's own little computer...seperate from your laptop. Firmware is like it's operating system.
