i noticed when using 1.7.1 compared to other version's that it has a distorted sound with key lock on and off.even when cueing a song you can hear it in the headphones.

my needles are clean,records are clean.
also i played the same track's on prevoius version's and never heard a difference.
it also seem's the over all volume has changed (it seems lower and it seem's to be distorted.

im wondering if this has changed with the auto gain feature add. because they adjusted some thing's internally to compensate with auto gain.

i also noticed this last night as well, so i did the same thing as you. checked my needles/cleaned my records/recalibrate each table etc.

something else i heard was slight pops with keylock on. almost as if you would have usb buffer issues, but the usb light never comes on.

any suggestions/comments from the serato group?

Wassup Shadow! I haven't had any issues like you're describing. If you have 1.6, does it still distort with that version??

no 1.6.2 is good!
i noticed it in my head phones.
i thought my head phones was the main problem.
until i went on the dance floor and noticed the sound the same.
also i noticed i get better sound quality from 1.6.2
i know serato has mentioned there is no difference in sound quality from using 1.6.2 but it seem's any track that hit's in the red trim volume in 1.7 sound's different then 1.6.2.
i feel 1.7 is different because they created the auto gain and they let us know after that you should not hit red level's.

If you are using the key lock, it's going to color the sound somewhat and often makes pops and crackles and skipping noises, that's just a limitation of key lock and most time streching/compression algorithms.

I doubt the auto gain has anything to do with it. It's not a real-time auto gain. All it does is move the players' gain knob for the song. Now yes, if it gained it too high and hits in the red, then it may be clipping, just turn the gain knob down a notch.

Same problem here. Just upgraded from 1.6.3 to 1.7.1 and a lot of files sound distorted. I haven't rebuilt overviews and have no problems with my equipment. Everything sounded fine with the older version. Any comments from the staff would be appreciated.

Just forget the comments from me above. When downgrading to 1.6.3 I have the same sound. I had a problem with my equipment. Sorry.

does it sound ok when you lower the master gain so it's not clipping?

josh i noiced in version 1.6.2 my sound is good.but when i upgraded to 1.7 the sound is distorted i never touched my files on either version.was there a change in version 1.7 where serato reads the files a little different? i know with the add of auto gain the serato team probably made adjustment's.

when i put on the key lock on 1.7.1
my tracks sound like if the record is nervous a little shaky
when its off its back t normal
why???????????????

i use key lock on my dns5000 so i can mix salsa bachata ext..........
i want to start using it on serato
some one fix it so i can rock

today I also noticed distortion. no lag on the wav form displays but you can hear the distortion.

a couple more questions guys, do you notice this only happens on certain files? or all files? what type of files are you playing?

if you could upload a couple of example tracks to the above link that would be a great help too.
