57 effects.

coolk 12:41 PM - 18 February, 2007
Hi..

I was hearing about the 57 for some time since it was introduced this time last year.
Maybe this is too soon, but I was wondering what effects the ttm 57 now has?

I heard the best mixer for effects is the Pioneer 909 :), and also heard the 57sl will soon outdo this mixer.

Has the TTM57sl gotten a decent amount of effects yet, and if so, which effects?

i only really use echo. If wanna jet/phase effect i just run instant doubles. It's "future friendly" how can you go wrong?

coolk,

www.service.pioneer-eur.com <- click on DJM-909, it will take you to the link, check page 31, lists about 50 effects on the 909, incl. fader curve adjustment.

Sorry, but the TTM57SL with its 5 effects right now is faaaar away from being a competition for the DJM-909 when it comes to effects.

Ya but does the 909 have built in Serato and soon to be video capabilities?

If FX are such a big thing to you, spend 100 bucks on an external processor and line it into the FlexFX on the 57.....

the 57 has 5 efx on it..i thought it was just 2...the flanger and echo. the phaser as was stated completed by doubles, but what r the other 2 effects left.

Nik was slightly wrong, the 57 has 4 effects, 3 filters and an echo.

The effect you get from running instant doubles is a flanger not a phaser.

sometimes...it's called a jet effect.....tomatoes....tomatos....
ralph 8:44 AM - 20 February, 2007
btw...faders last forever....57 still wins.
nik39 11:01 AM - 20 February, 2007
Sorry, typo, its only 4 effects, not 5.

There is a technical difference between a phaser and a flanger. A flanger is created by layering a delayed copy of the original track on to itself. A phaser is created by layering a phase shifted copy of a track onto itself.

I understand the echo..... but how do the filters work???.... I activate it at times and it switches from flanger to a phase by turning the knob to the right..... what is the best way to activate each of the 3 filters??
nobspangle 7:09 PM - 20 February, 2007
Personally I like to set the depth to 0 then use the left knob to control frequency and the right knob for resonance.
ralph 7:10 PM - 21 February, 2007
again....tomatoes...tomatos....

Nope. But he was asking about efx. 57sl is better for the reasons stated above, 909 is better for user Friendlyness, and efx.

TTM57 + SP-404: I don't think that the 909 can propose the same dope... quality of faders, effects, loops with pedal, etc etc...

so for me no compromise: no need more than my SP404 and my TTM57SL! ! ! ! !

For effect implementation I would say the 909 is a superior product at this time (just based on the sheer number of effects and their ease of use). I think in time, the 57 could develop a good library of effects, and hopefully it will be easier to use future effects, but for the time being, if effects is your bag, and you want the mixer and effects in the same box, I'd go 909.

But if you have patience, or if you don't mind having an external effects box, then the 57 offers more options for the future.

^^^Exactly. A 56 and a EFX-1000 is real dope too. It all comes down to preference. You win either way. If i had a 57 a would just use an EFX-1000 as well.

I have a Pioneer 909 and have recently been getting really pissed that the mixer itself doesen't have any hangover edges so when I place my mixer between my turntables w/roadcases... 2-5 times out of 10 my mixer ends up falling down.

For this reason and the fact that I've recently found out that the 57 has the echo effect that I use mostly with the 909 and the fact that I dont have to mess with RCA wires a plenty... I do believe I'll be switching over to the 57 very soon.

That plus the 404 combo is going to work very nicely I do believe!!!

Whats Good IV? I had that problem at forst too. They don't make a Battle bridge for the 909 either. I got the road ready case for it. Sit the same hieght as the tables.... That or stack the lids of your table cases and off set them in. that will give you a lip..
ralph 8:25 AM - 5 March, 2007
...or just get a 57....haha
