Anyone have a laptop stand that goes over the mixer. I am taking a look at this one...anyone have it, thoughts, comments, reviews??

That's a pretty low price. I'd get it. I don't like breaking the unit down to reduce the carrying size. It would be better to get a carry bag to place the parts in if you choose to break it down. The metal bends kind of easily but the support of your laptop is sturdy and down not bend downward even while you type or have hand pressure on it.

Its hard to tell from pictures (and I know it says it) but it has removable clamps that I can pretty much attach it to anything without screwing it in right? I am going to be using this for mobile so I need to have it breakdown and affix to different places - depending on where I am going.

Why do you say no? Have you tried it and had bad expereinces with it? I always do a lot of research before I buy something, hence this thread. My friend and I are really handy and innovative, I might decided to build something, If I do that, I will definatly post pics. Ill keep you updated.

the breakdown is a bit misleading, and my only gripe is that if you surface mount it you'll have 4 screws (that are F'n tiny) to screw the clamp section to the back/upright brace. Then if you decide to clamp to the side of a coffin you'll again have to fix the clamp using the little screws. The cross beams and top come apart. So if you can set the clamps and forget them then the L-Stand is a good working SOLID solution. Only thing - take care the little felt foot popped off one of the clamps. I have 2 of them - one with the clamps attached and one without. I do have the Serato Hi_Rise and it is very light and packs away cleanly - but is very flimsy with my 17" laptop. I gave away my iCurve - that F'in thing was super flimsy.

The actual serato stand is good but alittle unstable depending on the type of table that you using it on. I'm going to get the odyssey stand tomorrow!!! I'll let you guys know how it is once i use it!!!!

I use it, but I haven't used the clamps for it. I just surface mount it (the bottom pieces go under my deck cases anyway, so that's a little extra precaution I guess). It definitely is a b*tch to take apart and set up again for mobile gigs, but it makes the entire setup look so sweet. Only thing is, it feels a little flimsy, but it's actually quite sturdy. I spend a lot of time typing on my laptop on the stand and I've never had a problem. I even leave my laptop on the stand overnight, no problem. Oh, and the other thing is that it doesn't really get much height over your mixer if you elevate your gear on top of your deck cases or something like that. I have my stand on the highest setting and it's maybe a couple inches above my mixer, which shares elevated space with my decks on top of my flight cases. It's probably sturdier in a lower setting, but the lower three settings are useless to me.
And for $40, it's not a bad deal. I didn't pay $40, but that's my bad.

if you mark both control vinyls at the same place while on abs mode, its just like marking regular records, i can't look at the screen when i juggle, and besides that it looks stupid when you do it. try it out

oh i see.. but usually every record has a different mark that us djs use. that would only work for the beginning of every song. correct?

no.. you can also use it for backspinning, juggling, and a few other tricks by noticing where the sticker is when the sound thatyou want in heard.... and counting how many times it goes around.. you can backspin to that place with my accuracy quickly.

UPDATE:
With taxs and shipping which was $5.00 it came to like $48.00 and some change. I went in the store and had him order it for me because they didn't have any available in store.
Odysseygear.com wanted $99.00 for it
123dj.com wanted $69.00
So this dude I normaly go through when I get new gear hooked it up for $40.00.
I just recieved it last Friday and did a show on Saturday with it and I really enjoyed it. I brought the Coffin this time instead of the road ready cases and mounted it on top of the coffin over the mixer and it was stable and snug.
I was actually very shocked how well it worked through out the night. Very Impressed I tell ya.
I like how it comes with these little extenders that you can screw on to the two center posts to widen the stand if you have a wider laptop or coffin. I thought that was a cool little perk.
The other option that you can add with the L Stand is the tray for your Serato Box. I just ordered one after I recieved my stand. I got that for $25.00 through Guiter center as well.
Sugg retail is $49.99
Check it out!

All in All, I am very happy with my purchases.
I'm not going to sit here and bash on any other products out there because every true dj has their Preference.
In my opinion I think odyssey did a great job on this product and it suits be just fine.
Would I buy another one? YES I WOULD.

I actually found a price cheaper with some dealer on Amazon.com for my laptop stand and the people at PSSL looked it up and price matched it for 10% below advertised cost. So to answer your question... "Go diggin in the internet"

Dude, I've been waiting for that little extra shelf for the Lstand, but damn $50?!? Well, I don't even think I could fit it in there since my laptop is barely above my mixer on the stand's highest setting anyway.
