Who wants to get the Video Option in 1.8

djpiojo 5:13 AM - 10 February, 2007
im wondering of how many people are waiting for this video option to come out?
Pete Moss 5:19 AM - 10 February, 2007
I'm the guy camped out at midnight when the virtual Serato store opens.
djpiojo 5:48 AM - 10 February, 2007
i guess u can't sleep now till it gets out ;P
DJTonyC 5:58 AM - 10 February, 2007
From what I've been reading its a third party add on that you have to buy. So don't expect it in any Serato releases. Pleas correct me if I'm wrong.
dj disturbed 9:46 AM - 10 February, 2007
not third party.... its made byu serato.. its just a separate app that works with serato!
ejayian 10:40 AM - 10 February, 2007
it just better not cost to much, the only thing that was holding me back from trying the other video apps was because Im such a MAC fanboy, now that i'm in the market for a windoz machine if they make the plug in cost to much i will definitely be doing some comparisons
DjSykes 7:53 PM - 10 February, 2007
I believe they said it was going to be about $50.00....correct me if Im wrong...
nicklas1210 9:15 PM - 10 February, 2007
It's good though that's it's a separate app so that it won't cause any fucking trouble like in virtual dj or in numark virtual vinyl. I think it's crap if they release a, let's say SSL 1.9 or something and the video feature would be integrated!

they did say yet.. all they have said was that it was going to be a separate add on app

i'm waiting for the video option to come out.
Konix 6:17 PM - 12 February, 2007
I'll probably buy it just to have it and to be "cool," although I really have no need for it as I don't do video gigs, but maybe that will change now, er, then.
JohnDP1 6:27 PM - 12 February, 2007
i am actually not interested at all in this function...
Monk-A 6:35 PM - 12 February, 2007
Not interested in anyway

i'm hoping more djs think like this, since i've been getting roughly double for doing the same gigs with video added. more djs think like this, less competition for video gigs. i like that.
Monk-A 6:42 PM - 12 February, 2007
don't see the point in moving an image backwards and forwards on a screen... just makes me want to have a fit when i wtach it.

Fair does, if you're into it then cool, but i'd ratehr concentrate on music then stuff i can play because it has a video

i play my set exactly the same as when i'm mixing just music only. for everything that doesn't have a music video (mashups, party breaks, etc) i make my own video or just let the ambient video plugin takeover. i don't change the way i play just cuz i have video going. why would i?

That's the whole idea...
Dj KaGeN 7:01 PM - 12 February, 2007
or make VDJ work with the TTM57.... whichever comes first.
mister iLL 7:43 PM - 12 February, 2007
i have absolutely no desire for this option...and beyond that, i'm scared as to what it will do to the stability of ssl in general. i hope they make it optional..maybe two of the same version of ssl. one with video, one without?

it is optional..it will be a add on application that talk to the normal SSL app... if you want to you get it.. if you dont.... then it not on your computer unless you put it there!!!
djpiojo 7:57 PM - 12 February, 2007
where are you guys getting this info of the new app? do you know when is coming out? Im really looking forward

Do you read the forums? There's been at least a dozen threads about SSL1.8 and video.
djpiojo 8:26 PM - 12 February, 2007
sorry about that, i juz read them i've been out of town and i thought u guys wouldnt mind, but its all good i juz read them, thanx anyways
KMXE 4:04 AM - 15 February, 2007
im waiting for this as well
grrillatactics 3:30 PM - 15 February, 2007
I'm curious about it, and might buy it just to have it, but I doubt if I will use it often, or to its potential.
DJ GaFFle 4:31 PM - 15 February, 2007
I wonder if Serato's use of a USB 1.x interface on their hardware is gonna be an 'achilles heal' to video in any way...

Hell yeah! Hey everybody, don't even bother with SSL with Video. That option is only being developed for A-Swit & Me. Everyone else can use virtual DJ or buy DVJ's.
DjWoody 4:53 PM - 15 February, 2007
Oops... Wrong quote. I ment to use this quote. hehehe

I don't think so. The video stream doesn't go through USB.

video data does not go through usb at all. video will plug right into the tv-out built into your laptop.

I got a music video mixtape I'm working on for all to download. I'll make it ipod video compatible for everyone with an ipod or you can use quicktime on the computer to watch it.

if you guys want great video integration, check out mike relm:

www.mikerelm.com

One of my favorite DJs out there... He'll include both videos for tracks, movie clips, and his own home-made videos and other found videos in his sets. Takes digging to a new level... plays on 2 TTs (and Serato) plus a DVJ and 2 mixers. Dude's got major skills.

some examples:

oh yea, guys like Coldcut have been incorporating live videos for years. Their last show had 3 DJs all on DVJs and o a visuals guy mixing the 3 DVJ feeds with various other video feeds live - last time I saw them, I was blown away.

Last Cut Chemist show I saw also had him sporting 2 TTs (again with Serato!) and 2 DVJs and a dedicated visuals guy live-mixing different video feeds.

Honestly feel that video mixing is going to be the next level of DJ performance and will give a total new dimension with how a DJ performs and how he or she can interact with and work a crowd - especially for those DJs that take the extra step to make their own custom videos or utilize a dedicated VJ to work on the visuals.

Now I just need a new computer that will be able to run this feature :-\.
ejayian 11:14 AM - 17 February, 2007
I would like the ability to play any video file with any song file.

Example:

I have a MP3 of Thriller playing at the same time with a video file of the movie "back to the future", or if i wanted to I could play the same MP3 of Thriller with a video file of "pretty woman" of course the video should act the same as the MP3 eg i backspin the MP3 the video also backspins.......

My reason for wanting this is to be able to import video footage of an event and to play it back imediately with any MP3 file i choose.

ms. pinky allows you to pair random video clips with an mp3 and control it all with vinyl records.
alpashm 12:39 PM - 19 February, 2007
im not intressted in it as it seems more likely to go wrong but with serato i know theyll do a good job but for $50 you might as well if you already got tm57 wont hurt. I thought this was possible before i even read this thread but wasnt sure if the ttm57 outputs its crossfader control the PC looks like it does so makeing this possible not sure for scratch live users how they will impliment it seems like scratch live users will prob get a new addon totally.
Djmarkymark2005 9:15 PM - 20 February, 2007
Im hanging out in the Twin Cities.... Video is a must i am waiting for any computer options PCDJ seems to be asleep at the switch and now it a drag race to see who can make the breakout software.. I have several hundred dvd's and after being spoiled with mp3's i want faster access to all the information!!! My library is ready and i too can't sleep at night playing the waiting game!!!
Dj Wunder 11:18 PM - 20 February, 2007
I prefer a separate DVD player with Walker Texas Ranger on loop. I probably won't even upgrade past the next stable version of 1.7 anyway, I already feel it's getting too bloated
Dj KaGeN 11:29 PM - 20 February, 2007
Glad all you nay-sayers exist. Thanks for the gigs.
KingDecipha 11:38 PM - 20 February, 2007
I was at the ShaMoneyXL Producers Conference in Phoenix, Az and Serato had a booth there. One of the guys there was from Rane and he said that more than likely they were gonna implement the Video function in a newer model version of the TM57. So pretty much anyone with the SL1 is going to be S.O.L...

It would be dope to have visuals for all those crazy dubplates we like to play out all the time!

no if you read the other threads about video.. they have said you can controll the video function from other sources (like keyboard or midi controller) meaning that you can still use the SL1 box and use a midi controller to x-fade the video on screen.

true that. limiting video to only 57 users would SERIOUSLY retard the market acceptance of this thing. yes, i said retard.

Same here. My mix with SSL & VDJ is roughly 80 / 20. I like em both.

I dont really spend a lot of time reading the forums. So like some others I stumbled across the 1.8 video option purely by accident. I gotta say Im actually looking forward to its release. It adds a 3rd dimension to your dj package. I know that the venues I do will pay extra coin to have videos incorporated with the music.

I had a go of virtual dj recently but to be honest its just too fookin fiddley. Too many bells on it!! Fingers crossed that the serato peeps will do what they do best and keep it simple!!

my 2 cents ;)
DJPozzi 3:40 PM - 1 March, 2007
PS... the burning question.... but has there been any suggestion of when this option may be released??????
