when i use scratch live and try and record with it to total recorder, when i start recording the tracks jump and skip every couple of seconds.
And if i stop the turntables go away and do something when i try and play the track again it is unbelivably jumpy for about 1 or 2 minutes with the usb icon flashing in the top of the program?
Any ideas how to stop this from happening

You're getting USB dropouts... tell us more about the system you're using and its specs.
