Normalise / Gain Boosting entire collection?

OK so I've imported my itunes library and other various MP3's on my laptop into Serato. I've built the overviews but what I have noticed is that the volume of one MP3 can vary greatly from another. I know I can adjust the gain on each while they're playing but I don't want to have to do that so is there any way anyone has come across that will allow me to make each mp3 roughly the same volume so I don't have to mess with the gain to match two up?

Probably a daft question but I can't find any way to do it in a batch.

Auto Gain. Version 1.7 or 1.7.1 beta if your feeling brave.

Ah thanks a lot, not tried 1.7 yet - will get on it :)

It's still in Beta, so I'd suggest doing just a few "sample test files" just to be sure you're happy with the end results......Auto gain analysis can take a long time on a large library, and even long undoing it if you're not happy with the results.

Don't use 1.7, use the latest 1.7.1 RC2 version, the auto gain has been improved.

Thanks guys, I've just upgraded to 1.7.1 RC2 and have started the overviews rebuilding with gain enabled. Will see how it goes - the few I tested it on seemed okay so it's doing the whole lot now :)

Not true, matter of fact the overview building process takes a lot of time, the added autogain doesnt take much of time. And undoing is quite fast and easy now.

Yes. please use the autogain in 1.7.1 RC2 as it has been vastly improved.

Also, just to note, Autogain in SSL does not normalize the actual mp3s, rather it simply adjust the gain for each file when it is loaded into a deck. The mp3 data is not effected. If you want to actually normalize the files, use mp3 gain or another such program.

Bill this is a great feature, thanks very much for adding it in. Immensely better than using 1.6.3 and trying to adjust the gain manually.

Hats off to the Serato gang for a great piece of kit!
