Would you NOT put a proper pitch slider on the Xone DX????
Dj Beware 6:36 PM - 31 July, 2010
very simple becuase it has 4 decks and only 2 sets of controls so 2 decks share 1 set of controls. 1/3 share the pitch and 2/4 so if 1 was playing and you switch to 3 adjust your pitch when you switch back to 1 you would be confused as to where the pitch is, thus the endless knob...

Two faders on each side them. Like on the Xone 4d

ANyways, it's keeping me from moving over to Itch.

Have you tried the knobs?
Socross 9:02 PM - 31 July, 2010
Ever since I've started using the DX, I only rarely use the pitch knob. The sync is really good, so there's usually no need to mess with it.

Four faders would have taken up a ton of space on an already crowded unit, and would be annoying.
thebuttonfreak 9:47 PM - 31 July, 2010
I'm very anti sync. Though I'm not passing judgment...

And I haven't gotten a chance to play with a DX. No one has one around where I live.
Socross 10:06 PM - 31 July, 2010
Ah, then you might not like the DX. You using the vci?
thebuttonfreak 10:59 PM - 31 July, 2010
I'm using SSL with an apc40, I did my own mapping and I love it but would really like to get it down to just my laptop and controller, right now I still need a physical mixer.
kraal 11:18 PM - 31 July, 2010
i think you will like the knobs i really think you will
thebuttonfreak 11:22 PM - 31 July, 2010
Ya, I would get the Xone 4d and just map it all to SSL, but that bitch is like $3000. I would use the faders on the side for pitch and fine pitch (which is the best solution I've yet to see for midi pitch mixing)

+1 That would have been brilliant. Thinking about it a little bit, having dedicated nudge buttons below said pitch sliders would also be brilliant and save a lot of layer switching...

For beat mixing the pitch knob is far far better than any pitch slider. Just hit the sync button and then adjust as you need. or just use the knob to sort the pitch out. After using it you will not want to go back. I have the VCI but really want the DX as well but I find the VCI slider not bad but no way as accurate as the dx knob.

It's interesting that people hate the idea of EQ faders and demand pots - all in the name of control. So why should it be any different? Doesn't a pot give you better pitch control?

Perhaps it's a visual thing. But I didn't have any issues with pitch at all on the DX. But as Socross says, using auto sync is a big part of the DX, especially when rocking more than 2 decks. And it doesn't feel like cheating either.
kraal 2:31 PM - 2 August, 2010
actually i use pots while using abelton live (pots = potentiometers not canibus) and will say that it is faster to hit the slider but more efficient with the pots
thebuttonfreak 4:02 PM - 2 August, 2010
I use SSL in INT mode with my own midi mapping and the best thing about it is the ability to map the fine pitch fader to a slider on my apc. It gives me 0.01 increments of pitch in +- 8 range. This gives it that "real" vinyl feel I am looking for. I'm hoping to get that in Itch.

One V7 also controls two decks with one pitch *fader* ... so it *is* possible ;)
