Ahhh man my Sega looked like a mutant gaming machine when i had the Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X all hooked together as one monster ass console lol... Remember the games they had that were "32x CD" so you had to have both and the graphics still sucked. The only fun thing about my 32x is it let me play Doom on my Sega.

Lol Sega makes the Sega CD, thinking CDs are the way to go, but then they go BACK to cartridges with the 32X, failing to kill off the SNES.

Peep the link for some Sega Vs. Nintendo history. Very funny video.

BTW, I love Sonic and Gunstar Heroes.

Sega/Mega CD and Sega/Mega Drive 32failX were never meant to compete with the Super Famicom/Nintendo.

The CD unit was designed to get a head start on the market to draw an audience away from the NEC PC Engine (Turbo Grafx CD). en.wikipedia.org

In regards to 32X, it really did not have anything going for it. It was a last ditch attempt by Sega to "leave no gamer behind" by bringing 32 bit architecture to a 16 bit era console. The release of the 32X was simultaneous to the release of the Saturn in Japan which was a really bad move on Sega's behalf.

While it would have been a good idea to move forward by building on top of old technology - it wasn't. It proved to be even more costly than production for the Saturn. At half the cost of a brand new Saturn with better games and technology, a 32X was a waste of money.
