*STRETCHES TRANSLATION SKILLS*

Hello Everyone, Im Ben.

I wondered, might it be possible to have some skin options for serato?

I only ask because its somewhat dark - and not every party i play is at night.

Sometimes, the owner of the venue insists on having the lights up all night, and the current black / white scheme is rather dark, and at times, difficult to see.

Its somewhat a downer to an otherwise excellent product.

(hth...)

dont agree, i think the black / white contrast works really well...

altho if there was an option to 'flip' the scheme, so white goes black and black goes white(ish)... might look ok i guess....

Skining mods would be a cool feature anyway regardless of the practical side of having them done. If anyone knows of some bored software developers get them to code the skins you want for you. Someone with photoshop and an understanding of the location of the current "official" skin should be able to come up with something if not be able to explain how to make your own.
The only issue is if Serrato would rather you not open up there software and start tinkering. Fastest way to kiss your technical support goodbye anyway i'd be guessing...

You have to take into consideration that Serrato are an audio company and that branding plays a big deal in establishing a name in the industry. So far Serrato have done a fantastic job in being known as the best at what they do.

If you change the look of there software it ultimatly changes the customers percieved branding awarness and that means less recognition for Serrato overall, hence the hesitation to offer a feature like this.

Also, skinning indivdiual graphics onto a software display does take a fair amount of time - head to some Winamp skinning forums and read up a bit - you'll find that sometimes the skins take months to perfect, as every single control and panel needs a seperate bitmap file plus needs to lined up to fit the co-ords of the other controls/panels, and then only to have Winamp release a new version of the software so you have to start over again.

But yeah, it would be cool to have StormTrooper skin on a projector that is beaming your screen onto the wall behind you while beat jugglin the Imperial March out of Buck65's - Centaur ;-)

This is possible if you're using a Mac.

Open System Preferences
select Universal Access
In the Display section, select "white on black"
