Video editing

Matt Allcock 5:04 AM - 10 July, 2010
I need to edit a few video files that are unusable for DJing (poor sound quality, storyline or crowd noise in the video).

The iMovie app with Snow Leopard is great for doing this, but it only allows me to import movies in a certain format.

I have purchased a load of PO DVDs, and some of these (that have been converted to Mpeg4 AVI) are still unusable. I cannot import these into iMovie, so I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions to a video editing program for a Mac that will do this job and do it well?

TIA

Everyone is going to say Final Cut (ideally Pro).

Thanks Bren, is there a free version I can trial?

This.

Or if you need something more user friendly and free use Handbrake for the simple conversions (ie no background noise and decent audio)
For any MPEGs or vob files with bad audio I suggest reading up on how to demux and remux with new audio. Should be a sticky either in this forum or the help forum.
For the ones with bad audio you're going to need an editor and FCP is the best bet. Pull the audio file, replace it, and render the file to mp4.
