Inexpensive, but good case for V7

First things first - be warned that this case is a very tight fit. In fact, one of the cases is a little too tight, but I can deal with that until it fails. The other case is absolutely fine.

Yes, $25 for the case. Its light, plenty sturdy, and will get the job done. I used to use these cases when I had CDJ's back in the day.
For this little tutorial, there is a LOWER portion and an UPPER portion. When you initially open the case, the upper portion rotates and has a little tool pouch attached to it. The lower portion contains the foam.
Step 1: Remove all extra stuff from the upper portion: remove the tool pouch from the upper portion. There are two thin tabs that you should push in so that they are out of the way. There is little tab that holds the tool pouch in place. Rip it out.
Step 2: Remove all extra stuff from the lower portion: Lift the foam out - DON'T DAMAGE THIS, YOU NEED IT. Now, the tricky part is that there is some rubber liner that runs around the sides. If you try to put your V7 in, you'll see that its a tight fits on the sides. So what you need to do is rip the rubber liner out on the sides. Do this by fitting your finger underneath the bottom part of the liner. It is attached to the top part closest to the upper portion, so its easy to rip out. However, because its attached at the top, it will leave parts behind there. Be sure to rip it all out.
Step 3: Put your V7 in, look its a tight fit.
Step 4: Put the foam in the upper portion and notice that you can't close it. The next step is you need to slowly remove parts of the foam around the 7" jog wheel/simulated vinyl. The foam is cut into 0.5" blocks that can be pulled out. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SHOT AT THIS, SO BE CAREFUL. I removed a couple more blocks for the navigation jog wheel as well and the start/stop controls.
Step 5: Close the lid, you are done.
Unfortunately, the foam cannot be selectively removed to not dover the FX controls. But I'm not worried about the damage, the pressure exerted by the compressed foam will be minimal. I need to figure out how to post pictures, I took several that illustrate what I'm writing more clearly.
$50 later, I have 2 cases for my V7's. Now I just need a backpack that will hold my pioneer djm707 and a laptop.

No problem. I've been using this site for years. I see how pictures would help for this mod. Now if only I could fmd a hard case for my vci300...

It's no $25 dollar case like the OP's, but thanks. All they had at my guitar center was soft cases.

seems like too much trouble to save a few dollars for proper protection.

a standard attache breif case that holds a laptop from and office supply store can hold the vci-300 ... craft stors sell a foam sheet for cusions that can be cut to rest above the vci-300 in the case

No, the lid doesn't come off. Obviously, this isn't a flight case. But its sufficient for carrying between gigs and by golly, its much lighter than a flight case. Thats important to me because I walk to my gigs. Hauling my NS7 in a flight case just got to be too much.

I'm waiting for a case that you can have the VFX along side with the VCI300.

Got this one. Used to carry my mixer, but V7 fits in it perfectly. Lighter than flight case and as practical, but not for heavy road use.
