Problems with Video Mix: Bad Audio (Calling A-Swift)

iChompU 9:57 PM - 14 June, 2010
I recently made a mix, & made a dvd to give to a friend. I put the final touches on it in Final Cut, added chapter markers in DVD Studio, and set the levels appropriately. In Final Cut, I centered the panning, and lowered the DV level to about -3Db. The reason I did this was the default panning was set to the left side, and the Db level were set at 0. When I put the DVD into my dvd player, the bass was just over bearing, so I decided to lower it. Which worked fine in my dvd player. Anyway, He called me the next day and said that the audio was horrible, and that he had to turn his volume to 100% to hear anything. This was in his DVD player in his car. I seem to have no problems with it in my dvd player in the house, and even sent an audio out from the DVD player to my Powered EV speaker, and still have no problems.

Is there something that I am overlooking?

Please help. I wanna send these DVDs to promoters, and use in press kits, but if the audio is bad, then Im just wasting my time. Please Help!

I'm not A-Swift but that does not sound like an issue on your end. Maybe what your friend should do is take the DVD and play it somewhere eles.. Sounds like his car player might be bad. Taking it down 3db should not effect the overall voulme , it should be less bass.. I did the same as you did except I added 3db and it came out fine.

One of the most common questions people ask is the difference between a life coach vs therapist — especially when both are focused on self-improvement. While both professionals offer support, their roles, training, and goals are quite different.

Your DVD's audio issues stem from the difference between home and car audio playback. Car systems often have higher bass emphasis and prioritize perceived loudness over dynamic range due to cabin noise. When you lowered the overall DV level by -3dB to reduce bass at home, you likely made the entire mix too www.humantodog.com quiet for a car. To fix this for promoters, master your audio in Final Cut (or external software): use an EQ to gently cut bass, apply subtle compression to reduce dynamic range, and a limiter to bring overall loudness up to near 0dBFS peaks, ensuring it's loud enough without clipping, then test on various car systems.

Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X are more than just places to share photos—they are digital stages where brands perform, connect, and build relationships. Smart digital growth on social media means having a clear content plan, sharing posts that educate or entertain your audience, replying to messages and comments, and running ads that target people most likely to be interested in your services. Each platform has its own strengths: Instagram is great for visuals, Facebook is strong for local promotions, and LinkedIn works well for business-to-business connections. But the key is to not just post randomly.
