joerockets 2:15 AM - 4 January, 2007
Looking for the quick stop shops. Anyone?
dj skiggz 2:25 AM - 4 January, 2007
Taco King!
dj skiggz 2:25 AM - 4 January, 2007
wait its King Taco lol
DJ Unique 3:00 AM - 4 January, 2007
Don't eat @ King Taco.
They cook their food off-site and ship it to each King Taco in bags.
I found this out after I got very sick from eating a Carne Asada Burrito early last month.
I will never ever eat there again.
Bill M 3:14 AM - 4 January, 2007
Not a taco shop, a taco truck...

Taco Zone, it parks outside the Vons supermarket on Alvarado St in Echo Park every night starting around 7pm. I give it my highest possible endorsement.

DJBlisk 3:32 AM - 4 January, 2007
Are these Taco places like SD Taco places?

I mean after living in SD i was astonished to find out places in LA and SF put shit like rice, beans, and cheese in their shit. What the hell is that?
DJBlisk 3:33 AM - 4 January, 2007
I was talking mainly about carne asada burritos.
DJBlisk 3:33 AM - 4 January, 2007
Plus the taco sauces take like shit compared to SD taco places.
DJBlisk 3:34 AM - 4 January, 2007
AS you all can see. I'm serious about my mexican food.
DJ Michael Basic 4:30 AM - 4 January, 2007
Lucy's is now called Cinco De Mayo...I actually prefer their tacos to Titos. I live 3 blocks away from there.

Also, there's a chain of places called Campos. They have good tacos too.
DjWoody 4:57 AM - 4 January, 2007
Good luck! I'm 100% Mexican, raised and born in the TACO CAPITOL Of the world... MEXICALI!!! And quite honestly, I still havent found a freakin' awesome authentic taco shop in LA or OC. Some fellow DJ's and my self have even gone on TACO HUNTS and haven't found them yet.

But if you ever venture over to TIJUANA, Tacos El Guero at the end of Revolution and Tacos El Gordo on Zona Rio are THE BEST!!! There's even a few TACOS EL GORDO in San Diego. Hehehe
allenbina 7:38 AM - 4 January, 2007
www.lataco.com my boy hadley has had a taco from almost every fancy boutique and ghetto taco cart in the greater la.
if you're in west la, don antonios has pretty decent $1 tacos on wednsdays. sharkies has taco deals on thursdays (i think)

Yes and no, I only moved to NZ 3 months ago, and tho I will be going to NAMM in a couple weeks, the real reason i'm going is for my tacos al pastor fix.

Are you talking about carneceria azteca, cuz yo, that place has the fucking marinated carne ready for the grill. I'm sayin. Plus the tamales there are the best in echo park. Serious, I'm gonna kidnap the old guy that works there and make him set up shop here in auckland.
Dj KaGeN 1:41 AM - 5 January, 2007

DjWoody 1:49 AM - 5 January, 2007

Dj KaGeN 2:05 AM - 5 January, 2007
I was down in Cancun last year, there was this hole in the wall joint off the main roads that was the shit. I was talking to the owner and was telling him to move shop to the states. He spoke almost perfect English and knew the lay of the land in Cali. He wasn't ready to move up there with his family. He no longer has a business in Cancun after that last hurricane... Everyday as I see a new restuarant open, I drive by just hoping it's named "SENOR TACO".

K-rad 1:01 AM - 6 January, 2007
Speaking of burritos (slight off topic), I like Albertos which they have several around Los Angeles area. As for fish tacos, I like Taco Nazos. Awesome.

Taqueria de Anda SUCKS!!!! Sorry, I can't stand that place. It's not real mexican food. It's ASSEMBLY LINE Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, when you're drunk, and it's 3am, it rules. Hahaha
DjWoody 3:44 AM - 6 January, 2007

Thers also one in La Habra off Harbor and La Habra Blvd.I go there after work sometimes and I think its pretty damn good.
But closer to where I live you could try El Atacor. One in Pico Rivera off whittier Blvd and one off Norwalk and Washigton.
Theres a newer King Taco in Pico also but there burritos are too overpriced for the size that they are and the chile is good but to damn hot to even enjoy you food.LOL.I still keep eating though even if my mouth is on fire :)

But ya like Woody said,if you want Real Mexican food then you gotta go to Mexico
DJ_Mike_Coquilla 11:22 PM - 7 January, 2007
Filibertos or Filbertos in AZ. drive thru
JustForKicks 2:00 AM - 8 January, 2007
Albert Tacos! in Cypress, very near cerritos... California Burrito is offf the chain! If you do make it out there, there is a little secret.. the carwash next door, has a place insude that makes even bomber California Burritos... DONT SLEEP...

a Bleezy, a california burrito, then the gig... get paid and do it all over...
Julls 2:52 AM - 8 January, 2007
What about Taco Beuno in TX? While I was stranded due to the Denver snow storm in Dallas a couple of weeks ago I ate that every day! Good as hell and cheap!!!
K-rad 8:08 AM - 8 January, 2007
Oh yeah, I forgot! There is a taco truck that parks in front of Nishikawa (sp?) auto shop on Fair Oaks somewhere in Pasadena. Don't know where is the nearest cross street (maybe somebody knows?!) but they hang out there every nite real late and the tacos are tasty.
dj_KaSE 4:06 AM - 13 January, 2007
Cosign on El Tepeyac in East LA. It's on Evergreen, between Malabar and Winter. Order the Manuel's Special, and take 3 friends to help you out cuz that shit is like the size of 4 or 5 burritos and will cost you about 13 bucks. You'll take a mad dump afterwards, but well worth it. No runs, though.

Also...

Tacos El Gavilan in South LA. It's on the corner of Central and Washington. You can't miss it. The carne asada there is da shit, and the horchata is good too.

I was born and raised in LA, and I'm Mexican no less, so I know a good ass taco shop when I've eaten at one.

Peace...
dj_KaSE 4:07 AM - 13 January, 2007
Oops, sorry. El Tepeyac is between Winter and Blanchard.
Beale Dabbs 9:14 AM - 13 January, 2007
El Triunfo in Anaheim on Lincoln, just west of Harbor. In Placentia, I highly recommend the al-pastor tortas at Tlaquepaque in La Placita Santa Fe. And I have no problem the Fullerton Taqueria de Anda. I dunno about the others but the Fullerton one's taco's are pretty legit.

And I don't know if it's still open but Ramona's The Spot on Olympic Blvd in Pico Rivera used to have really great food but was the greasiest, dirtiest, foulest looking hole-in-the-wall ever.

Hey, but what's the best really bad food in LA? OKI DOG! I'm showing my early punk rock roots but Oki-Dog was the SHIT after a show. What is an Oki-dog? A burrito filled with a hot dog, chili and shredded pastrami. So wrong it's right.
DjWoody 6:19 PM - 13 January, 2007
Ok Ok... The guy (Memo) that sells tacos Saturday nights outside of GRAND AVENUE Nightclub is the BOMB!!! Those tacos are freaking good. But I admit sometimes Memo is a hit and miss. Sometimes they don't taste the same, but most of the time his tacos and hotdogs are freakin' awesome!
dj_KaSE 7:41 PM - 13 January, 2007
I think all the fake Mexican restaurants are badly overrated. They're expensive, give you less amounts, and the quality is just "okay."

So skip all the Acapulcos, Rubio's, Tito's and El Cholos and just stick to the taco trucks and carts instead. Unless you're taking a girl on date.
Bill M 8:00 AM - 17 January, 2007
Back in LA for the NAMM show. Went on a taco feeding frenzy yesterday. La Taquiza (30th and Figueroa) for breakfast... fresh off the plane. Dinner at El Compadre in Echo Park (#6 El Vagabundo and a couple margeritas). Hit the alvarado taco truck late last night after the bars. Now I am back to full strength and ready for battle.
Dj KaGeN 11:57 PM - 17 January, 2007

oh and did I forget to mention that she also makes the BOMB homemade CORN and FLOUR Tortillas, Kick ass guacamole, AND Salsa's are ACE!!! hehehe ;)
djivanlopez.com 11:27 AM - 18 January, 2007
Woody: Tacos El Guero are the ish!!!!!!!!! EVERY time I go to TJ, my first or last stop is always there. Los tacos Al Pastor are the best!

King Taco or Rigo's Tacos are good, but vary from place to place. Also, in the San Fer Valley, El Taurino has great tacos de carnitas.
DJ_Mike_Coquilla 2:22 AM - 19 January, 2007
i actually favor Del Taco over Taco Bell.
dj_KaSE 3:34 AM - 19 January, 2007
Cosign, Mike. Del Taco uses real meat, whereaso Taco Bell's weird looking "meat" done gave me gas more times that I would like. Dare I say, Del Taco's tacos de al carbon are almost taco truck quality. Not bad at all!
eder 8:01 PM - 21 January, 2007
taco bell uses grade D meat....pedigree, as in woof woof dog food, uses grade B meat...do the math.
