What up RekTek... just my opinion but single mirror scanners are great for a fixed environment... not really for mobile work. It takes a significant amount of time to set 4 - 6 scanners up and the payoff just isn't there. Unless, you are a wiz at programming them for each event.

Get more bang for your buck with a barrel mirror... something like the Martin Wizard or Mania 500 - 800.

I'm not a lighting genius or anything, but I haven't heard of that brand of Lights. Check out the lights suggested in the previous post. Also, check out the Martin SCX-500's and the Martin EFX-500. I use 2 SCX-500's, One EFX-500, and 2 Chauvet color changers. It's a pretty decent light show. A lot of times, depending upon the gig, I can get away with just using the EFX-500 alone. That light covers a very wide area. It's similar to the Martin Wizard mentioned in the previous post. I haven't bought a controller yet. It's in the works though.

NO NO NO!

Like I said in your other thread, anything over $800 for a set of 4 scans is too much unless they are martins, instead get a pair of moving heads like the hulk 250

Before I spent $1000 on 2 150w Hulk moving heads that are ALOT slower than mirror effects, I would spend the 1200 on 4 250W moving mirror lights. I don't know if i would go with the EXCALIBUR set on ebay, but if you are willing to spend the money, Martin has good 4 head mirror packages that will be alot better than the Hulk

What heads are those?
DjRekTek 12:19 AM - 25 December, 2006
Ejayian, I am looking for something I can mount to my truss. The moving heads may be too big and heavy for what I want to do which is to use them mobile. Someone said in my other post that he would not even use scanners in a mobile set-up because it would take too long. As of now it takes me around an hour to an hour and a half to set-up my rig from start to finish. From my experience it could not take much longer if I used scanners.

Ha! Just tryin to help a brotha out...

I made the same suggestion to Julls but he ended up getting 4 of the single mirror scanners and now they sit at home for most gigs because of the additional time to set up and break down.

I would def look into something with a wide spread before single mirror scans.

Looks like you could use some LED cans in your set up.

Ha! I think you're the one sittin on a grip of scratch. I've been watching your posts and it looks like it's burnin a hole in your pocket.

Serious though... In my opinion, single mirror scanners are further down the road for ya.

Odysey vector 250's i believe there discontinued, i bought them from some guys who purchased them in the mainland & used them once & decided it was to much of a hassle to use them. They were still packed up in the styrofoam when I bought them all for $780.

And yes they are on milk crates :P

"sittin on a grip of scratch"...never heard that before, but I like it. If a grip of scratch is a credit card then maybe I am.lol, but damn I hate to use that thing!

I feel you on that, I guess Its so easy for me because we place them on milk crates & not on a truss. However just last night I was thinking of changing my setup (because one of my big light columns broke) and Im looking into getting a truss and mounting my heads permanently.

Definitley the way to go, only time i would get 4 scans is if they were martins. Scans are much faster than the heads so fast I want to slow them down:)

Yo DJRekTek, I just had an idea & I posted this question just now on another forum,

Instead of using your ibeam veritcally would it be strong enough to use horizontally? This way you can place the heads eitehr on top or from the bottom? I ask because I think thats how I want to run a truss system, that way I can leave the heads on the truss permanently & transporting would be easy because I could just lay it down on the ground when done.

I feel what you're sayin', I guess you would just have to experiment.
