Stanton will be announcing FS3 at NAMM. Plus an upgrade path for FS2 if I understand it correctly.

Interesting overview.

Mixvibes is god awful.

In fact, any software that doesn't use it's own propietary sound card isn't very good when used with turntables.

Also, FS3 might now what people expect it to be. I think they were working on their own software which was to be controlled by their own controllers that they were developing.

Like, they might have a CDJ-type controller and a mixer type controller that they plug into to control the software.

Awesome! Bring on the competition! To be honest, once PnT and MIDI is running nice and solidly on SSL, I don't really know what else I'd be looking for in DJ software...

But competition always sparks innovation, so who knows what new features will turn up in the pipeline.
punosion 3:47 AM - 5 January, 2007
Man, nik...thought this would have hardcore replies! I just spotted news of FS3 so I HAD to post...but you beat met to it. ;)

C'mon, people! Final Scratch 3! Where's the flames? >:)
Audio1 4:12 AM - 5 January, 2007
Fuck Final Scratch, Stanton and their inferior products. RANE OWNS ALL DJ Performance applications... Even DJ Craze knows that Serato is better than FS2. He uses it too!

THERE!
J_Static 5:05 AM - 5 January, 2007
Punosion, I hope you mean the flames when we set all of that cheap NO GOOD software on fire at the SSL Bonfire party we'd have after their release dates....

I 2nd Audio 1's comment, look at NUMARK and their new software CUE, hahaha! A company like Numark can't make a decent mixer.....
J_Static 5:06 AM - 5 January, 2007
Oh and I've talked to Craze about his F.S. use.......

Still baffles me to this day, but hey what suits you, right?

BLAH BLAH BLAH Wakka, no disrespect there, but look where your at....

This is Planet "Scratchlive" started by those out of this world guys and girls from Rane and Serato...

If you like those brands then go to their websites, sorry just my blunt honest opinion
MusicMeister 5:46 AM - 5 January, 2007
Interesting post...

They got a lot of the details on the two major contenders (at this point anyway). They are designed for two different things with some functionality that overlaps.

All in all... very nice post... and he's right - the X-Session Pro kicks butt....
J_Static 5:48 AM - 5 January, 2007
Not snitching on craze!!! That's my boy from High school, it's just funny to see him use both SSL and F.S

what? really? What does he usually use at shows?
J_Static 6:28 PM - 5 January, 2007
Yea joe, I went to the same high school as craze and know Arith aka Craze pretty good. He will usually use both which is odd.
s42000 6:41 PM - 5 January, 2007
FS3 ??? A new version of crap is always crap.

Check next time you go to the loo for a #2 if today's sh!t was better than ... lets say last years. Stanton should be hanged and taunted during the process.

Early last year I saw him in LA and he was using FS. When I saw him again last month, he hid his laptop but it crashed on him during the show.

The only time my SSL crashed was back in 1.4 andit actually just froze the screen. The audio still played which allowed me to play a CD and restart without any major problem. :)

I do keep my system in check, but I hope it never happens live. It hasn't even froze on any beta being released.
That Guy 1 4:00 AM - 6 January, 2007
I've never read Craze mention his time while living in Atlanta.

I saw on another thread where Craze used FS until it crashed, then switched to SL.
Daim 12:15 PM - 6 January, 2007
there's really no point at all in comparing stanton and rane products.. just compare the dj mixers of those 2 companys and u know whats going on..
JohnDP1 1:52 PM - 6 January, 2007
guys you are forgetting a very importanta point.

For SSL: Rane makes the hardware and Serato the software
For Finalscratch: Stanton makes the hardware and NI the software

if a screen freezes, the display goes wild or simply the GUI is doing something wrong its the fault of the SOFTWARE so blaming Stanton for the FS2 problems is ridiculous...the same goes for Serato, they are the core of the SSL product, not Rane...
Daim 2:14 PM - 6 January, 2007
yeah and now native instruments' and stanton's partnership has ended and standton will develope their own software(will they?) which i dont expect to be better than ni's..

ni always bitched about the crappy stanton interface.. propably thats why they are splitted now.
Daim 2:15 PM - 6 January, 2007
but maybe they finally get out a working product.. who knows
c-j 2:29 PM - 6 January, 2007
Thank God for Rane and Serato - after past experience, and at their ridiculous rate of expensive 'support' for transitions, Stanton is one company that I prefer not to deal with.
DjRavine 2:51 PM - 6 January, 2007
Stanton doesn't make hardware as quality as Rane. Rane stuff is built like a brick.

Serato also makes exceptional music software and plugins. We can't expect anything less than the best from these 2 companies.

Stanton's stuff is usually below par from what i hear but from my experience with my str8-150s they're really really great and reliable. No troubles.

NI's Traktor is a great program. They just need to integrate it with FS a bit better but hey. We'll see when FS3 comes out.
Konix 3:04 PM - 6 January, 2007
NI and Stanton split, so Stanton is fully responsible now for both hardware and software. Stanton is making the FS3 software, not NI. Although I hear NI is coming out with their own timecode solution.
That Guy 1 5:10 PM - 6 January, 2007
How do we know that Stanton has not found a better partner?

While most of Stanton's stuff may be crap, their top scratch mixers, the `SA' series, is not bad.
nik39 5:21 PM - 6 January, 2007
Not bad = below average. I doubt you would be happy with "below average".
That Guy 1 5:38 PM - 6 January, 2007
I meant, "`are' not bad."

I actually like my SA-12, thank you, nik.

Now, I'm interested in the SA.5.
mister iLL 5:39 PM - 6 January, 2007
i had an sa-12. it was cool. till it broke.
mister iLL 5:41 PM - 6 January, 2007
which is why i now have a ttm56. eff stanton.
That Guy 1 5:44 PM - 6 January, 2007
Let me guess: the fader stem went brok-e on you?
That Guy 1 5:45 PM - 6 January, 2007
I've gone through 5 faders. Stanton took it back every time, until the tech. modded a special fader plate.

I do know that Stanton has been working on their own software for over a year now. Like I said earlier, I think FS3 is going to incorporate more than just a scratch amp/software package. I think it's also going to have controllers for the software, too.
bangpow77 3:26 PM - 7 January, 2007
I know for a fact that Stanton has been working on the controllers, but I'm not sure if they are going to release it under the "Final Scratch" series.

They are. It's already been hinted at on other forums that Stanton will be making some type of controller(s) for FS3.
allenbina 10:10 PM - 7 January, 2007
bang on?
That Guy 1 1:23 AM - 8 January, 2007
I'm picturing a little game that was common at arcades when I was little. Does anyone remember the square box with round holes that had gofer hads that would randomly pop-up? The object was to head as many as possible.

I think that's what Stanton is planning to use for their main controller.

Or, they may be using controllers from this page:

the stanton equivelant of the Scratch Box/Audio Interface is sh*t hot and generally regarded as better than the SSL1. It really seems like the problems come down to bad software, so Serato have sonned them on that basis.

The Str-150's are really nice, I used thema few times and loved them
Konix 3:17 PM - 8 January, 2007
Did FS2's price drop? I went to Guitar Center yesterday and the sticker price was $499. I asked the guy working and he said that's the new price, not a sale or anything.
nik39 3:25 PM - 8 January, 2007
Eek, time to put mine on ebay!
Dj Nyce 11:12 PM - 10 January, 2007
fuck final scratch. i owned fs1 which was useless. it didn't work on 3 laptops and 2 pcs. i fought with them for my money back didn't get it. then i was promised fs2 for free, i got played there too. so what did my dumb ass do? i bought it and sold fs1.

fs2 worked but it sucked if you are mixshow dj or do any scratching for that matter. so i sold it *actually made a profit too lol!!! take that stanton!!!

i wouldn't buy fs3 if it came with a blowjob from angelina jolie (no offense brad).
bangpow77 4:54 PM - 22 January, 2007
Total disappointment from Stanton, from what I understand. Apparently, they didn't release an FS3, they only turned their FS into Final Scratch Open. Basically, other software companies can write software for their scratch amp now and that's their "big" thing. Also, I guess their booth was in some kind of office upstairs and didn't really show much.
nik39 5:05 PM - 22 January, 2007
www.skratchworx.com <- click. There is FS3. ITs coming later this year. Laser Timecode readout and stuff.

I'm not trying to be funny and I'm kind of lazy, but don't see FS3 anywhere on there.
bangpow77 5:10 PM - 22 January, 2007
Nevermind, I see the original press release, but they didn't show a damn thing at the show about it.

That would really be a tought one ..... I'd look at it this way ... that the total cost is for the BJ and they are just throwing in FS to piss you off.
J_Static 6:18 AM - 23 January, 2007
Bangpow, I'd gladly buy FS3 for a BJ from Jolie, then I turn around after I busted one in her mouth and return the FS3......

Cuz technically you can't return a BJ (so to speak)
