Which benchmark to use to compare CPU for SSL?

In order to choose between Pentium M, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo processor, I was wondering which kind of test is the most similar when a cpu is working with SSL
-Audio compression tests (MP3,Ogg Vorbis,WMV,...)
-Video conversion/compression tests (TMPGEnc,DiVX,XVid,...)
-3DSmax 7,Cinebench 9.5 tests

the "your ears" benchmark. honestly, these wont help much when applied to serato. i know a lot about computers, but not too much about any one thing. i've had some usb issues with some laptops as seen with the intel macbooks with a p4 3.0 toshiba because of a crappy chipset. the usb buffer would overflow (?.. jargon that sounds like it makes sense... my friend told me).
