anybody see it yet? British magazine said early 2007! Pretty much a take on the 2 channel, it looked pretty sick though!

I'm waiting for the d.4 Pro myself... 1Q '07 is what I've seen posted everywhere. It was commented that the list would be $1K but I saw a post from someone at Mackie that said that we'd be pleasantly surprised on the price. I'm eager to get the final price on the mixer and FW card though... and to get one in my coffin!

They're looking at a release date of Feb 1, 2007. $999. Built like a tank, full kill on the EQ, filters, plus the firewire thing that everyone is crazy about but I don't understand. This thing is sure to raise an eyebrow over at Pioneer and Allen & Heath and perhaps even Rane.

Nice but they should have made it so every knob was midi assignable, what the hells it got firewire for? So you can record your mix into a computer.. utter bullshit, but it looks like a nice mixer

The firewire is 2 way. If the software support assignable ASIO outputs you can push to the mixer directly.
That means that I can assign the sampler output from my Torq software to one of the channels and pass the connectiv output to 2 other channels. You can also record ALL the channels on the mixer independent of the output. So if you manage to get a sample just right during the night you can record it off the mixer independent of the output and then play it back later. It also means that if you're a real sneaky asshole you can let someone else use your mixer and record that hot track they're playing from vinyl pre eq/pre fader. That's right, run out of time to record your vinyl to CD/MP3? Just play it at the club and record at the same time. What someone elses hot track, 'em use your mixer and record while it's playing - same for any samples they drop. Sneaky bastards....
BTW, you could set up your SL1 on 2 channels and then playback from Ableton/Reason/etc over firewire on the other 2. It really opens up a lot of possibilities.
Basically, the possibilities of using the audio recording and playback over firewire are impressive - if you use a little imagination.
