My Headphones Finally Gave In... What Should I Buy?

Dayum! I'm Sad... My headphones finally gave in after 5 Years. They're customized Technics RP-DJ1200 Silver with Serato Logos on the sides... Ok, they're Serato Stickers, but you can't tell at night! Hehe
What do you guys recommend. Sony's are out of the question! I gotta remind you guys that I play on LOUD CLUB systems every week.
They broke while I was making a Spanish CD for my mom's Christmas Party.
Hmm HELP! What should I get?
I'm thinking Senheisser, Pioneer, or Technics. Or if I get Sony's, it would be the Sony's 7506.

No! I'm gonna save these headphones. Only one side works, so I will keep them in my car for emergencies. I always seem to forget my headphones! hahaha

I dont like how those Seinheisser's look though, I cant get over that........ I have the technic 1200 ones as well and they are ready to take a shit so im in the market too....... I think im gonna go with the other Technic ones that are a little smaller and less flashy, I think they were the top model for Technics before the 1200s came out... anyone know what ones these are and if they are any good????

Fix your broken ones! :)
I have 2 pairs of these and I absolutely love them. The second pair I bought when the new ones came out (which I didn't like) and the old ones dropped to $69 bucks.

These are mine..

I'm not sure which ones you're talking about Steve. I love mine, but now they're discontinued. I'm thinking of getting the new version because they have detachable cord, replaceable foams, but I never used them. :( Oh the Pioneer's, I really dont like them. I hate the Sony's 700's and just like you, I can't get over how the Senheissers look like. They look like Toys.
I'm thinking these. I found them on Amazon for $92.

I would fix them if I knew how! :( I asked my pops to look at them, he knows somewhat about electronics, so maybe he can fix them. Hehe

so far my senn hd-25's have been super tight.
rock solid and no issues.
my boy bought those techs same time i got my senn's and
his tech have burnt out twice, broken once and the cord
has shown wear and only makes contact to the plug in the
headphone intermittently now. plus they lose all their
response at loud volumes (which you shouldn't have to hit if your cans isolate enough).
yall need to realize what good headphones do for your health and your mix. don't short yourselves in this area especially if you play a lot or listen to your music in your headphones on the regular.
you should rate your cans on a scale something like this:
isolation - how much outside noise your phones block when you put them on your dome...if you can't hardly hear anything that's good because then you'll only hear what you are qeue'ing.
response - do they stay clean and even at loud volumes? say you turn it up you don't just get bass or treble, everything has an equal presence. if they distort don't even consider them. you'll burn up your ears.
durability - or can you find replacement parts easily....then ask yourself if you REALLY are going to repair these phones or just toss them. most of us say we will repair them but that doesn't happen.
then from their work your budget. just don't go buying some grado cans cause you heard they were dope or the camo audio technicas cause they look neat. get what works for your application.

Woody, I used to have the ones that just went out on you (same problem, one side quit playing), and now have the Technic ones that you are looking at.
The newer Tech ones sound pretty good, and seem very durable. On the minus side, they weigh a lot more.

Woody, the old ones you had are the new ones I want and the new ones you want are the ones I have now ha ha ha....... They are ok BUT they are heavy as hell, they fit TIGHT as hell compared to all of the other headphones I have and no disrespect but you dont look like a little dude, those things fit TIGHT around your neck its pretty annoying...... AND the joints are cracking just like the Sonys and I've only had them maybe going on a year and a half now.... I gig alot like you I really wouldnt reccomend these Technics..... how long did you have your pair of Technics... and they are not discontinued I googled searched and found alot of pairs..... they just dont seem to carry them over at PSSL or turntablelab. for some reason.

This is the reason why I've stuck with the Technics I have (the old ones). The new ones are just so much heavier.
For the guy up there who says his friend's headphone's blew out twice... aaah... I don't know about that.

I use the M-Audio and the Shure Ear bud headphones (both cost around $99). the best HP i ever bought. So much more comfy to wear and it blocks out so much more sound.. the Shure's are a little better then the M-audio but they are both great!!!!! And you dont have to turn them up as loud od regularHP b/c sence they block out more sound you can hear them better!

I ended up getting the Technics RPDH 1200. They sound good, and they were cheap! I got them for $100 out the door @ Guitar Center! Woohoo. I really wanted the Senheizers but they were special order and I need them for this weekend. Oh well. Next Time!

I think I'm the only one around here that's not totally impressed with the Sennheiser HD25's, other than comfort. Had a pair of the Pioneer 1000's and they quit on me. I have a pair of Ultrasone's on order and they should be here next week. I'll let you know...

I just found my broken pair Sony 700's. They sound fine, the swivels are just broken. I will call Sony tomorrow to get them fixed, than I'm going to get them customized. I'm gonna get them airbrushed WHITE and put the red Serato Logo on them! Than on the top cushion, is gonna say WOODY instead of Sony. Wooohoo!!! I can't wait.

HOLY CRAP! I regret getting those Technics headphones. THEY SUCK! They sound like shit. They sound so hollow, so muddy, I think my cell phone sounds better. They're HUGE too, which didn't feel too good on me. They're so bad, that I borrowed the other DJs headphones last night. :(
On the other hand, the NEW Ortofon Needles are SICK!!!! They're much much better than the Shure's. I think I'll be getting a pair soon.

The only thing I don't like about the HD25s is the non-phone cord..err..cord. My DJ booth is huge and I have to take them off completely to vomit in the corner.

I don't know why people care too much about how clear and crisp the headphones sound because when we mix all we need is a Beat or a Snare. All I care is they are confortable and they last.
I own the Technics 1200 for a year and a half now and I have 2 of the Sony's 700. What I don't like of all, it's the foam cracked and it's very annoying when you are mixing.
Does anyone knows if the Sennheiser HD25 foam cracks as well?

For me Technics RP-DJ1200 all the way dude. It happened to me once with my first ones. They fell off my neck and hit the cement. One of the legs on the right side broke but they still worked.
I got on ebay and picked up not 1, not 2. 3 more. lol They fit me perfectly and they sound great to me. The Sony 700's blow. I am sticking to these pups for a while. :)

Pioneer and Sony blow. I won't even go into it. I have the new Techs play 4 sometimes 5 times a week and no probs yet. My favorite phones are well a phone I modified.img.photobucket.com
It has a sony driver in it. I actually take the base with me and hang up the phone when I'm done with a mix. And when people bug me when I'm mixing I can say... "Can't you see I'm on the F*&^% PHONE"!!!
