QUESTION: Is there a way to change the Loop in, Loop Out, Loop On/Off to Loop In, Loop Out, and Loop Trigger?

On my 57 I can Choose the TRIGGER which makes it easier to REPEAT the loop and keep it in sync with the Mix.

i found that you can trigger via Keyboard alt [ deck 1 and alt ' deck 2
but that way is a pain in the butt
I want to assign this on the 3rd loop button instead of the regular loop. this is called CDJ Style Loop Trigger

I think this is the first Rane/Serato hardware product that has NOT come with stickers.... thinking back, my SL-1's (2), TTM57SL, and SL3 Limited Edition all came with stickers.

I JUST got my Rane 68 yesterday from guitar center from pasadena, this mixer is a beast.... so much to do with this mixer, hopefully someone steps up to make some tutorials ....

I just got one! But mine came with a shipment to a club im building and they dropped the gear off at the bosses house weeks ago , now im just getting them open and i noticed my box was damaged. by the time i realized my 68 had been dropped and broke some screws on the chassis, someone had already thrown out the shipping box , thus i cannot get a claim from USP bc they say i dropped it..... so now its a repair WTF! the good news is , it working purfectly and it was free.... i guess it goes both ways...

Got mine the first on the East Coast apparently 1 month ago, I have always used Rane mixers so I LOVE IT!!!! Anyone messed with any 4 way setups yet ?????

Just got back from a month long out of town job. It came while I was gone, my neighbors signed for it. Been waiting two months exactly. No stickers, and the shipping box was thrashed. The installation CD was floating around inside the box, kinda scratched up, but use-able. :( Everything seems to work, but the B side scroll knob cracked slightly on the inside, so I stuck a piece of paper in it so it wouldn't touch the face plate. Happy to have it finally though! I'm sure I can track down a replacement knob somewhere?

u know im having a similar issue with the Efx control know that sets the depth.... its kinda sticky. I also think the buttons on this mixer suck and feel crappy plastic... they shouldve designed their own knobs..... for a hot start i'd like to have something that i feel is gonna last, u did all this work on the faders and nothing for the buttons..... ill call u when they fail.... also the timing isnt very tight and it sounds like the drum hits doubloe wheni use the hot cues, unlike when u use the computer keyboard.....

I agree on the efx knob, I rarely use it cause its so damn slow.
What they should have done with the buttons is straight out put laptop keyboard tech into the mixer, or just straight out keyboard buttons right on it. Would have been more accurate then having to puch buttons in a weird manner

Hey Guys, when I got my 68 the B side scroll knob was cracked as well, I think it is a defect in the packaging, IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED I FABRICATED A CASE FOR THE 68 AND YOU CAN BUY IT AT ANY DJ SHOP /MUSIC STORE. I CAN EMAIL YOU THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR AND PICS FOR FAB. I just wanted to let you know that you can call Tech Support and they will send you replacementt. I just used the one offf my TTm57sl until they arrived. If you have trouble I also have some extras. Also you guys should check out the show we did with the 68 the other night..SO AMAZING I LOVE RANE!!!! hahaha . Anyway let me know if anyone is interested in the case to keep there baby safe!!!!

I ended up getting the Marathon case with the laptop table, and the removable panel in the front, but am not too stoked on it. No Doubt buddy, I will send them in the AM, I used the ODDYSSEY CD-J flight case and it gives you about 4 inches in the back and 3 up front, so its a little bigger but not much. Also I wanted to ask everyone that has said they had problems with the whole effects sticking I am wondering if you might explain that more, I dont like the whole MIX LEVEL knob, how it brings the volume so low, I would think it would just control the overall global effectiveness of the effects. (DID THAT MAKE SENSE)??? Anyway I mean how loud the effect can get like a master for the effects, Maybe Im just not used to it. I have always used RANE mixers and am very close with the RANE distributor in our area but it just seems that it makes an intense jump on the volume.

after playing 2 major shows and a few days at home with the mixer, i like it. the button however are way to hard. on a 6ft table it makes the whole table jump needles included just to get a cue and the timing is way off compared to the keyboard on my laptop, same reason i sold my mac book pro, keyboard timing was crap. then they updated their firmware... i think theres too much going on when u send midi, my denon hotstart dohickey used to lock up if u got to fancy on it....u'd have to unplug the usb. and it would keep Serato from startingup at times also..had to plug in after starting the soft. Back to the 68: The Efx Knob yeah a real bummer....smooth at times and then gets tight i dont get it. must be a faulty knob.
i think the channel faders are too close together.... also the filters sweep to fast, not a really good sound it just fades.... the echo is watery sounding as well... DJM800 has super clean echo... as does the EFX1000 both i also have and use , Hey guys , get with Pioneer and make us a DJM6900 with Serato in it! Im just sayin!

Agreed..I love my DJM800..I'm a huge Pioneer fan though...I had the 57 and I wasn't impressed...As always Rane does a superior job with the Faders...none better! But over all I'm with Pioneer...Having said that...I went to NAMM 2010 and based on the demos and having also played with the 68..I decided to purchase it. Now I have 45 days to test it out from today...I have been keeping up with all the posts on issues with the 68 so I'm aware of possible issues and I'll only post if I find something new....I'm truly hoping that this is the mixer that changes the game for me...otherwise I'm sending it back and ordering the new Pioneer DJM2000 and will use the New Dicers for Cue bangin ;)

THIS IS A 68 FORUM FOR RANE/ SERATO NOT A PIONEER SITE, LOOK IF YOU GOT RID OF A MACBOOK PRO AND YOU DONT LIKE THE BUTTONS ON A 68, YOU NEED TO USE PIONEER, THAT REALLY MADE NO SENSE. TWO OF THE BEST PIECES OF EQUIPMENT IN THE WORLD 68 AND A MAC WHICH IS WHAT OUR TEAM ALL USES. ANYWAY YOU MIGHT WANT TO HAVE THE MIXER CHECKED OUT. The buttons are designed that way so unlike the pioneer stuff does not break.How Long have you been DJaying cause every mixer I have ever owned have been tough at first,( I always buy RANE), they have done tests and shown that Rane mixers are beyond Pioneer all day long. Lets look at this on a Pioneer every mixer they make there is screws around the Faders , !!! do you know why??? because they know that they will ware out and break. Rane never has done this before cause unless you are superhuman you cant ware out a Magnetic fader (unless you bend the rail). The 68 now offers screws around the fader area not because you will ever need to replace the Magnetic cross fader or the Penny & Giles upfaders but because they will be releasing new panels to go there so the 68 can be used for multiple applications. You will soon see!!!! Keep your 68, break it in and actuall use if with a decent solid DJ stand and when the 68 has been out for a while and they start releasing all the new add ons you will be so thankful I sent this message. I am only telling you this because I talk to RANE techs all the time and have got some insight on what is going on. GIVE IT A CHANCE, and get a new DJ stand!!!

Since '84 i have been on the decks , i started out with the very worst and have worked my way up to the very best. I personaly own and rent out a ton of gear. I currently have 2-57's, 1-68, 2-DJM800's, 6-1200's(2 mk5's , 2- M5g's, 2-MKII's), 4-CDJ1000's (2-mkII,2-mk3) 2-DVJX1's, 5 laptops of various brands and sizes for various uses. And i work 5 night s a week in the club circuit and have since 1994. Befor that iwas doing teen dances and djing the bedroom. Dont knock my findings ,im just giving you my opinion here about the mixer. Ive spent more hours on a RANE than you know. I love my RANE's i had a 56 but sold it to a friend....(shoulda bout the 57 back then...) But i think the buttons on the mixer are too square and hard feeling on the tension....and i dont see this wearing in.... these are my findings.....

They should hire me to help design..... Im not just the DJ im the installer... Most professional instalation companies have great technicians , but most just dont know how us dj's like stuff when they build a booth.

So I just got done playing around with the 68...My first impression...Very cool...Lovin the Faders...so nice to be able to adjust the faders to your own desired setting. I like the EFX but thier still not as sharp sounding as Pioneer...The buttons for the Cue points should be tighter but their not as bad as I had heard they were...I love the auto loop feature..some nice tricks can be done with that! One thing I wish this had was the ability to see different deck combos when playing 4 decks..example: I have my 2 1200's on decks 1 and 4 this can be seen in all of the different displays even the original 2 deck mode display...But when I hooked up my CDJ1000MK3's to decks 2 and 3 I can only see these in 4 deck displays...it would be easy to add this on an update I'm thinking..so its not a deal breaker for me...Over all..I'm impressed :)

Its not every box that gets stickers, some days on the "floor" they are out of stickers, but that doesn't mean we should stop packaging the mixers ;)

Chad just curious when is the next shipment towards the new york area distributors, i ordered mine just 5 weeks ago and the dealer keeps on telling me fairy tales that it's coming next week and when that week arrives he says check next week.

I can try to ask him if any have been shipped to the store you mention. I know the demand is high for these things and we are getting them shipped as fast as we can.

Thank you for the patience and you will hopefully soon find that the wait is well worth it. You'll be like a kid in a candy store for days with this baby. I suggest you start stocking up on food and water and make the necassary sanitation accomodations, because you're not leaving your decks for days once this arrives :)

im depressed, ive tryed everything, dang plug in keeps crashing. im gonna install 2.0 and see if it works with that... Theres something wrong with 2.0.1 for some of us.
Why do we have to install 8 peices of software to run VSL on a Windows Machine, WHY?
4 codecs, splitters, quicktime, 3vix, ffddshow, WTF u guys , REALLY? And then u want me to install a new version of Serato to use the 68, why not just include it with the latest release, it came out before the realese did....

u cant go to 2.0, the .1 version is the only one that works with the 68. Im on a MAC and OSX Snow, this has giving me issues like crazy. some peeps say they are 100% on Macs, but thats cause they dont run OSX Snow.

Dont worry though, the new version is coming, and as for ur windows.....Get a Mac, one click and ur installed

Yo know , i owned a MAC before , and i caught myself saying this afew times in the last few months "i think i want another MBP!"

But as for the 2.0 thingy , im just proving a point that my stuff works with 2.0 but not with 2.0.1 regaurdless if im using the 68 , 57, or th SL3.... But yes the 68 doesnt NOT work with 2.0.1 and VSL and that s my problem here...

downgrade VSL to the last version b4 this current one, thats what im using, the new one is unstable

I gotta question. When will we be able to turn Wifi back on and use the 68 Mixer at the same time. I used to have it on so I can Download Requests and so on. Now when I turn it on it makes my tracks skip. I wanna be able to Ustream My Sets but cant.

yeh recon using the 68 puts a greater strain on my system than my SL1.

use another computer to stream your sets. no matter what mixer you are using.

my windows machine can play videos, record, download, stream audio and video all at the same time... poor mac user.

OK, so after a night of hell with my 68, i think im going to take it back and im also going to take back the one i bought for my new club. There are way to many bugs in theis mixer and the 2.0.1 software for me to be a user at this time. It crashed a few times in the club last night, cant get the video to stay working..... The effects suck , the filters suck, the button are two HARD to pres and they do not act anything like the laptop keyboards for hot cues making you sound sloppy.... AND 2 use 2 DJS i need 4 SOURCES???? Why cant i piggy back the turntables to control both laptops instead of either swapping the decks to another input on the back making me move cords during my set??? I think someone put this mixer out way to fast.

bout to buy a new MBP, sick of this SHIZZLE! that might be some of the issue with the videos and solve it with the quickness. i had one, sold it, now that they come with i7 i think i want to 17" with the faster processor and the 512GB SSD hard drive... its only like $3200 i can sell one of my 68's for it. HA!

def going to have to road test this mixer some more. still think the ECHO is weak , and the filer curve sucks. Maybe they will change that with the firmware update. Let us pray. im not giving up yet. but i think Serato also doesnt like externals very much when theres a butt load of songs on both the internal and external (80K im talking) my co-worker hooked his drive up last night and crashed it also. the database kernel freaks out when theres allot doubles in the files...... it even makes tracks disapear. im missing stuff, and only after others have plugged in. I 99% of the time WILL NOT let another dj plug into my laptop anymore.

Um. Can't you just change the USB selector in Serato, to select the deck you want to swap out. You have to use an open USB to swap first, but then you can set it to the PGM's you want after you get going. That's what I've been doing. (i.e. computer 1 is set to 2 & 3, and computer 2 is set to 1 & 4, to start. When I want to switch computers I just free up one Deck on computer 1, and select the USB/ Turntable that's free, to that USB on computer 2, like if I free up PGM 3, I just set computer 2 to USB 3, and bam) I don't have to unplug anything in the back. Isn't that the whole point? I've been using two macs at home... (Still worried about using in front of crowd)
Oh, and I was unsure about the buttons at first, but I found out if you don't pound on them, but press them they work nicely with no needle skipping. Also, my hands sit nicely next to the button banks, so it is really working out well. ( I could see after a few drinks you may want to get the lead fingers out, but just a little self control goes a long way...)

LAst nite I had a MAJOR CRASH!!! Did nothing different, everything was the same as a regular day. I setup, played around with it for 20 mins b4 we went live, then once I went live, 2mins later it crashed. Restarted, 10secs after 1st song, BAM, again.

iPhone via channel 4, so I had premixes playing while I Fully restarted my MAc.
Got in trouble by club owner for not having anything on the screen.

10mins later I was up and running, and played the whole night with my ass clinched.

I've had my 68 the 1st week it came out...

current status: Cue 1 on Left Deck has BIG ISSUES on pressing. I dont have FAT fingers that will break this so easily. I rarely tap this buttons (even though u have to touch them a certain way because they were made weird) but now I have to send in so it can get the 1 button fixed :( TTM57 all over again

Note: I really like this mixer, best mixer i've used, but this is sad

people used to say the same thing about the 57 when it first came out...have you tried it with 2.1 it is off the freakin hook!

i am sure there will be a fix for the issue with midi buttons very soon

do a search...people hated the effects, the b1-b6 buttons, and had all sorts of complaints about the mixer and the software (think it was 1.5)

What i love about the mixer....
having four channel allow's me to seperate my bridge output and sample player...
love the sound quality, so clean on a high end system
onboard effects sound so good
i can route SL internal effects and trigger them on any audio channel

love the fact that it lights up and is easy to see in a dark club...that combined with my denon hcs 1000 and my novation launchpad (for ableton) is hard to beat

I just picked mine up on Friday I love the mixer great job Serato & Rane. However I do feel for the price they shouldve taken a little more time and have constructed the mixer a little better. For instance the fact that I can see into the mixer when its on is annoying you dont expect that from a mixer like the 68. A tighter fit with the panels couldve solved that cosmetic issue and the fact that the channel fader area looks like their are screws/holes that are being covered up. Over all I love the mixer...

I sold my 57 after about a year..just didn't like the layout and all the switching around I had to do for each channel to use the buttons on the mixer..but thats me.



Buttons are def. something to get use to but more and more I'm learning to deal with it..plus I use the Dicers for cues

Yo Ace. You using the denon hc1000 on pgm's 1&2? I could only get it to work on those channels, (somewhat) the cue buttons wouldn't work on the denon at all.

that new mapping for DJ FX with the HC1000 has me rethinking picking one of those up.

Everything seems to work as it should now. Not getting any dropouts or any glitches. I updated denon midi map, and all cues/ functions are working perfectly. On both the sixty eight and denon hc1000s.

Sorry to hear that AP. Major League Bummer... The box mine came in was a mess. I was worried for a while that something was internally wrong. Maybe the cause of some of the glitching in software? Everything is on the up and up now. Been running solid since update. I like it.

Hey AddPop, I'm sorry to hear about those inputs not working correctly. Have you contacted our service department about the condition of your returned mixer?

I just haven't been available during business hours. I'll be on the phone soon tho. Rafael helped me first time around.

have you defo got the input selector switches on the back in the correct position for your inputs???

I did. I also tried just inputing computer audio (headphone to RCA) and I get no signal. Of course I changed it to line for that.

This is the same issue I had when I first got it, only it was just channel 2.

When they sent it back, now 2 works but 3&4 don't. lol.

damm...unlucky son but dont worry rane will sort you out....just gotta be patient and sit tight....

AddPop: Just want to make sure we keep this thread updated. I heard you called in and talked to my patna Chad. You guys were able to get Audio from a regular CD to pass thru Channels 3 and 4.

So in the end - is it the mixer or something else?

Yo the title of this thread is roll call 68 owners( not I'm having some problem, or,i have a better idea on how the 68 should be built) , out of the last 35 posts 1 has been on subject, there's plenty of threads about problems/ issues.......

after owning the rane 68 for almost a year, i decided to put my pioneer 800 on ebay. i hope i made the right decision..

the filter knob is starting to wobble a lil bit. i use the shit out of it.

Haha..Same here..not Ebay but I sold it about 3 weeks ago to a Dj friend who can't afford much. He bought it for $1200 off me and the knobs on that thing were 'toe up' ..I def. used it over the last 4 years.

nope the 68, the 800s knobs are rock solid.

Had this mixer since September, and I'm loving my life. Just Sayin. :)

Sold the DJM-800 within a month. No regrets!

Had mine since June...Been hustling with it and LOVING IT!!!! Its my house mixer!!! LBC/OC in the house!!! Id have to say that its been dropped and no longer has the Main Knob...It only att. anyway so we have it stable... DOPE MIXER THO except the cues...after awhile they become laggy...hmm wear and tear?

cue bottons laggy after 4 months?

@ Dub Cowboy - fo real!!! but i use it everyday and once a week at my residency...Although only channel 3 has the issue...I have to push it multiple times to activate the cue (fyi: the headphone cues)....Being in an industry that is pressed for time, its kinda bothersome when its in the midst of a transition... hahaha like a permanent split cue...Something like that I can deal with since practice is inevitable...but the cue buttons for tracking is also going out....I was kinda brutal, lack of a better word, with it cuz i was using it in the same retrospect as the dicers....its a bit tough to push, which at first i thought made sense since you wanna accommodate for wear and tear, but 4 months, you're right!!! definitely sh!tty but I deal with it cuz i dont want to deal with the wait time for repairs...cuz, real talk my clients don't care...they just wanna hear good music....FML :/

Had mine for a year now.. luvs it!

Just got my 68, its sic, loving it whenswapping between DJ's without having to swap laptops. Effects right in front is nice along with loops.

Check out my ULtra Music Festival Submission I did with the 68. I love the damn thing!!! Just hate that my studio gets dusty and the buttons lag. Aside frm that with the crossfader upgrade its the sh!t for me now!! I do havea problem with the software tho, now that i think of it. Everytime i setup a playlist and shut down SL and open it up its all out of order...wtf?!?!?! lol
