seems odd that serato would give permission to a company to develop software that directly competes with their own.

correct me if I am wrong but even on Mix Emergency's website it says "Serato Audio Research does not approve, endorse, test or support MixEmergency."

I am pretty sure they didn't get "permission" to make an unofficially supported plug-in.

I am surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit or something come out of it actually.

frankly i am surprised there hasn't been a law suit pertaining against any of the companies that use the technology serato uses for scratchlive...don't know who owns the patent (if anyone does) but i will bet it's not serato.

Serato and Inklen are like many companies, where they used to work together and one guy left and started his own shit, unfortunately the one that left has the capability of recording your video set within ssl.

actually once vsl works with itch, ME will work with itch.

ME just sees the mp4's which itch can't see until it has vsl setup (I believe)

The only issue is if you become to proprietary you end up like Avid or Pro Tools. It gives competition room to survive.

bottom line is that Itch has to be able to play mp4s, untill that day comes(which i doubt and hope it doesnt) then u will see Itch doing video with ME. otherwise forget it


also... i think u NOW have to own vsl for ME to work, otherwise it wont see the mp4s ?

that answers it all. i wondered if that was seratos way of combating the people using ME

mp4's work fine within Itch. Obviously you won't see anything, only hear audio.

can't the ns7 be used as a standalone midi controller w/o itch? if so, can't you use it with ssl/vsl in internal mode?

ME is a standalone program
VSL is a plug-in (but basically a program that is activated and run within SSL)

ME can function without SSL as a video mixing program. ME never claimed to have audio playback capabilities.

ME's video recording does not happen in SSL. If I remember correctly, ME just remembers everything that goes on during the mix (which files used, when it was used, fx/transitions used) then renders everything afterwards. I don't think it records the audio...unless it does now? I think ya had to record audio in something else and put em together aftewards...not sure if it's still like that (or even if it was). Never used that.

either petition vsl to work with itch which will happen anyway or go to ME, if you want it done.
