Headphones recommendations

Dj Alex Alvarez 3:30 AM - 13 December, 2006
ok, so I've been through over 5 pairs of headphones in the past 6 years... Almost a pair per year... I'm tired of spending so much money on a piece of equipment that barely even see's a year of use.

So with that said, what do you guys recommend for me to look into?

I need something strong and not made of the cheap plastic like the Pioneer HDJ 1000, Technics, or Sony V700's...

I saw SONY MDR-7506's, and was wondering if any of you had any experience with them?

I got the pioneers. Had em for over a year and have had no issues with them.
Dj Alex Alvarez 3:47 AM - 13 December, 2006
Yea, I've been through 2 of them already.... Both cracked in the exact same place

Get Sennheiser HD25's
Great cans

I use the 7506's, had them for about a year and a half now. No problems whatsoever, sound great, and they are lightweight. I used to have the V700's and they were pretty heavy on my head and clamped on my ears too much. Also the padding in the 7506 is a lot softer than the V700's. Plus, they're only $100 at most places.

all good.

i got the pioneer hdj1000s. dope headphones...

once my mixer or the tables were messed up, it was sending a signal thru just the left side of the headphone. with a flip o the switch to mono, that left signal came thru both sides in the headphones.

only thing is, i wud always throw them around and eventually the cheap plastic gave out and snapped on me. thank rob for warrantees.

i thought about gettin other ones, but no need.

Yea I may go for the 7506's... I can't stand the "pretty" looking headphones that just crack in a mattre of months... Yea they sound great, and look great, however can't stand up to the weekly gigs over a course of a year.

i went from sony 700s to 7506 2-3 years ago. haven't looked back. i prefer the sound quality, comfort, and price of the 7506. not to mention the design of the earpiece which will avoid the popular cracking issue that the 700s have. everyone at our station uses them too.

ok so it looks like that's what I'm going to buy tonight. Thanks a million guys

agree. if you do a search there a numerous threads regarding headphones. i searched and it seemed that a number of people loved the HD25s and have had them for years. if you search the net you'll read these headphones are praised for its quality and durability.

Sennheiser HD25's hands down. Great for spinning and in the studio. I will NEVER buy a pair of Sony 700's again. I have a pair of Ultrasone DJ1 Pro's but I've never really liked them for DJing but they're better than my AKG's in the studio so that's where they stay.

I've got the Senn hd25s and love em

I went through a couple of Sony V700's before I wised up.

After the second pair broke I went a picked up the Numark PHX. They are nice (not a good as the Senn), but sound equally as nice as the Sonys and Pioneers. And for the money ($40 after rebate at the time) they are worth it. The come with 3 different cords and 2 types of driver surrounds.

sennheiser hd25!
Tommyillfigure 3:45 PM - 14 December, 2006
sennheiser hd25 is the pro´s choice since years. these are often used in studios too. what I like about them that they are not as heavy and big as the sonys or the pios, you can wear them for hours without noticing it. and one thing which nobody mentioned yet, but which is great IMO: you can get the spareparts for these. I went from Technics to Sonys and each broke after some time and then you can throw them away. If anything breaks here even an idiot can fix it without any problem.

Go for it and it will be the last pair of headphone you´ll buy

sennheiser hd 25's were originally designed for drummers
they're loud and block other sound out well
plus they stick to your head like nothing else
been using them for years and haven't tried anything that is better..
Dj Kari 4:18 PM - 14 December, 2006

www.headphone.com

Was just told about this site. Has a lot of headphone reviews and stuff on it. Not specific to DJ'n but may be able to help out with decisions.

I personally like my Sony MDR-V700's... loud and clear for me. Had them for a few years now and they have been rock solid.

Another HP to check out is the Denon HP1000. I've been using them for about 8 months now. They are solid and have good sound. They are much sturdier than the Sony's and Audio Technica's that I had previously. Both had the same design and broke in the same place.

Sennheiser. I have a pair and I been using them for 3 years. great on sound.
K-rad 3:12 PM - 18 December, 2006
I agree with Sennheiser HD 280 Pro too. Folds up nicely. Accurate, neutral sound. When I first got it, it sounded funny (Not sure how to describe it cuz it was a while back), but my friend told me to "burn-in" and it sounded alot better. Not sure if it's abused or not (I try not to!), but the plastic band seems to be no sturdy. The inner band is already broken off. But overall, love it.
