GhostFace - More Fish - on hit status

DJ GaFFle 11:39 PM - 5 December, 2006
I likes it.

Looks like Ghostdeenie is back on his game. Tracks are tight, grimey & off-the-beaten-path like his Supreme Clientele stuff. (17 tracks)

This one's gonna be on reserved status in the LR3's CD-rotation... I definitely WILL support this good work.

I heard that too. I didn't pick up 718 or whatever it was called but I'm still intrigued...

You can hear a couple of tracks here:

www.prefixmag.com

The opener is kind of disappointing--Ghost rhyming over the "Know the Ledge" instrumental. That Mark Ronson song is pretty decent though. So is that song with his son.

Plus, am I the only one that thought that The Pretty Tony Album was better than Fishscale? (I have a feeling I am...)
DJ d.range 12:49 AM - 6 December, 2006
718 was better than i expected, but to me fishscale is his #2 or 3, after ironman & supreme clientele
Thundercat 1:18 AM - 6 December, 2006
Only like 2 of the 17 tracks:
You Know I'm No Good w/ Amy Winehouse
Gotta Hold On (Shawn Wigs feat Eamon)

I didnt really like Fishscale at all really, probably one the few people, but I dont know I jus couldnt groove with it.
I like Ghost and all, but I dont know his shit lately doesnt impress me.
I'd think Rae's album would be more fire the the new ghost, strictly based on producers. I love RZA. I dont know how many beats he did for the new ghost album, if he did any at all, but yeah. Hopefully both of them will be good.
Gamble 4:28 PM - 6 December, 2006
Pretty Tony was definitely better than Fishscale. I would even go to far to say PT was classic. I loved that album.

Wow, I'm not alone! I think my problem with Fishscale was that it seemed like he was deliberately trying to make it like Supreme Clientele, although some of my perception of that was probably all the media hype around it. But that Clyde Smith shit at the beginning? Wasn't even CLOSE to the first one. I skip it and go straight to track 2 whenever the album comes on. The intro to Pretty Tony (not to mention Supreme Clientele), now that's classic material.
DJ d.range 12:40 AM - 7 December, 2006
i been listenin to pretty toney, again, and i'll have to put at the top, too. "its over" might be one of my all time favorite ghost songs,i used to bump this hard in the truck b4 my liscence got took
mister iLL 1:26 AM - 7 December, 2006
pretty tony had ghost coming out the box with some ill style. fishscale was good, but not as raw as PT.
society 4:35 PM - 7 December, 2006
Word, and "Beat the Clock?" Shit is brilliant, in a "The Watch" and "The Sun" kind of way. There are so many other good tracks on there, but on "Kunta Fly Shit" I think he really shows his skill, rhyming to such a slow beat like that.

And the variety of production is great too. From "Tush" to "Run" to "Be This Way" to "Love."

Slammin.

You know, I think "the Watch" might be my favourite Ghost track. It's a tough call, but that track is definitely up there.
scotty B 5:45 AM - 8 December, 2006
Man Daytona 500.... That is my faverite Ghost Joint. That whole Ironman Lp is classic material.
SYK39 1:53 AM - 21 December, 2006

scotty B 2:21 AM - 21 December, 2006
Apollo kids is some good ghost too. This thread makes me realize how underrated he is.
djmetaphysics 2:23 AM - 21 December, 2006

If Ghost didn't promote illicit drug usage/ditribution and make-up words here and there, he'd really be better. The beats on the first album were sick-o.
AMF 8:37 PM - 21 December, 2006
I know sales ain't supposed to mean much... but 36,000 records sold in the first week???!!!

I don't mind the drug talk, and to be honest I love when he makes up new words and lingo. The one thing I could do without is the misogyny--I find it hard to listen to Ghost when there are ladies in the room. It's not as bad as it used to be, but most girls do not like listening to music that uses the word "bitch."

and ghost making up new words is part of what makes him so great
AMF 9:52 AM - 22 December, 2006
Did Ghost have ANY promo going for this album? I didn't see a video, nothing on the radio... nothing. Hell, I didn't even see one internet interview! I think I read it here that he was coming in December. That's all I heard of this album.
CMOS 12:26 PM - 22 December, 2006
I think meths rhymes are still tight he got some wack beats nowadays tho.
