Odyssey L Stand Issue?

djsleeper.com 9:35 PM - 3 December, 2006
I usually setup my turntables and mixer on top of my turntable flight cases...

I thought the L stand was height adjustable... but I can't even get it close to high enough to clear my mixer/turntable on my setup....

and the flat feet that are supposed to slide under your turntables, how do the screws fasten those flat things to the stand?

if someone could post pics, that'd be awesome.... i feel like an idiot...

Hey man, don't feel like an idiot, I was trying to figure that out also then I realized its two different size screws in that little bag, and it didn't help that the diagram fell out the box somehow. What I did learn the hard way is that it is better to already have it connected before you show up. For one, you won't have to worry about dropping those little ass screws and two, you won't have to worry about forgetting your little screwdriver and having to tighten them up with your finger nail.

It is definately recommended to have the legs already assembled before hard. I hacked the foam packing with a box cutter to fit the stand with legs assembled just about the same way the Serato HiRise is packed. I have both the Serato HiRise and Odyssey LStand and both stands clear RoadReady cases for me. The Odyssey can go higher than the HiRise.

i just keep mine assembled..hopefully it wont get destroyed in the future. its biatch to assemble that thing everytime

It's much cheaper than the Serato Stand? Why?

I don't know. I do know that, with my Road Ready cases double stacked, I don't get a lot of clearance for my laptop to hover over the mixer. I kind of have to slide the stand back some in order to be able to reach my EQ controls. I love the way Odyssey design the legs to be flat.

The Odyssey L stand is much sturdier. But it doesn't breakdown like the Serato stand.
Duran7609 10:54 PM - 4 December, 2006
how does it breakdown?? i like the hirise cuz it breaks down into that folder, that i put in my bag. but i know what you mean, the hirise aint too sturdy, kinda wobbles when you have it at max height
Dj KaGeN 11:00 PM - 4 December, 2006
check the pics... see the little black screws on the bottom... those attach to the bottom braces. If you decide to spin out of cases, or clamp on to a table edge, there are clamps that you'd use the bolts to attach them. Now if you want to toil with those little buggers at a gig, then you could put it back into the foam cut-out similar to the album sized case of the Serato... xCept the foam of the odyssey is larger than an album, so it will not fit in my gig bag. I'd probably still take my serato stand to a gig, just because the breakdown is very clean and fits in a record bag.
Duran7609 11:06 PM - 4 December, 2006
yeah, thats what i like about the hirise, its not too hard to breakdown. i set up my hirise every week at the club, so i guess i should keep it then. i'll check out your odyssey one next time!
DJ A-NAK 9:19 PM - 11 December, 2006
the only issue i've had with this stand is it has soft metal and can be twisted and bent really easily so i just check to make sure it looks all straight before placing the laptop on it...but it's been working A++ in da clubs i'm at
MusicMeister 10:35 PM - 11 December, 2006
Is this the same stand that GC is selling for $99?
DJ GaFFle 11:28 PM - 11 December, 2006
Yep...I got mine from Sam Ash for $69. They don't force you to buy that unnecessary bag with their stand unlike GC.
tig ol' bitties 11:44 PM - 11 December, 2006
can anyone post a link for this? I jus searched the GC website and couldnt find one.
nate_nasty 11:54 PM - 11 December, 2006
you can get them here for $69 www.djdeals.com go to dj accessories and go all the way to the bottom of the page.
tig ol' bitties 11:56 PM - 11 December, 2006
eh, i was hoping to be able to physically see it before buying for the issue a-nak described.
DJ A-NAK 4:30 AM - 12 December, 2006
no i mean don't think it's wack...the stand is solid...i just never collapse it so sometimes it can get a little pushed around in my car and that can bend a little but it bends back...but i dunno just giving my help and input...the stand still helps with it having adjustable heights to clear over the tables or mixer whichever you prefer...and it's angled and i find that clutch i'll get shots of it from the club so you see how i use it...

I think the RANE "STAMP" costs more....
DJ A-NAK 4:38 AM - 12 December, 2006
yea who knows maybe RANE can answer this?? should get discount with serato serial number or something haha
MusicMeister 11:00 AM - 12 December, 2006
My understanding is that the hi-rise folds up... that's what you're paying for...
DJ BIS 1:49 PM - 24 December, 2006
Have you guys tried to use the clamps to attach the stand to the turntable cases? If you have a 10" mixer and you use the extensions that come with the Odyssey stand you should be bearly able to make the width required to clamp onto the cases. The setup turns out to be quite sturdy and reliable.

Just FYI.
