MACKIE SRM450 (first version) COME IN. I NEED TO REPLACE.

Where can I get a replacement sub woofer for my speaker? I blew it this past weekend and I need to fix it ASAP. A local repair shop is charging me 150 to fix it. Im thinking its simple to replace these things. If you've done this, please drop some knowledge.. Thanks.

$150 for a 12" mackie woofer plus labor is not that unreasonable,
but shop around, if you do it yourself it could be cheaper...

if i were you i would pay the 150 and get it done right. messing with powered stuff your self unless you really know what your doing is just setting yourself up for failure IMO.

the Mackie speaker is very easy to replace by yourself, do not pay labor, pull the screws out from the back, they are deep and you will need a loooooong phillips screwdriver, once the screw are out the whole front pops off and the woofer is right in front of you, pull it out and pop the new one in

make sure you use an equivalent replacement (if not the genuine replacement woofer). Like McKay said, especially with a powered speaker, the amp, processing, and crossover is designed to work with that one particular woofer and it's defined specs. If you just drop in any old woofer, you may have a blown amp to replace instead of just a woofer....
