Looking to take some load off my laptop and get into making edits in the future and was wondering if an iMac would be good. MacPros are a little too expensive (for me). Or shall I wait and invest in a MacPro? I'm talking about the desktops btw. TiA!

if ur going mac, its probably best to stick to an intel one. newer apps and vst/au's may not be compatible with ppc.
what kind of laptop have you got?

even the older mac pros are pretty solid machines - apple should be updating the model very soon, which means they will be blowing out refurbs and clearance models
i see first gen mac pros on ebay and craigslist for around $1000 sometimes
avoid the g5 - no snow leopard and new apps as mentioned, plus they're very flaky in their old age - i have two that both have problems

Thanks for the info fellas!
I have an '07 mbp. Still quick and reliable, but I've been interested in getting a desktop for some time now. Hmm back to researching haha.
