New to Video - Getting VJ Gigs

DJ GRIAL 12:21 AM - 9 March, 2010
I am new to video and I have some questions for working video djs.

I been a dj for years and had many residencies, I have no problem finding new gigs but I have no idea about vj.

How much is the standard price by the hour if you provide the projector, screen and all your dj equipment?

Do club owners like it?

The price is different in all areas. Depends what your standard audio rate is. If you get $300 for audio in a night you might want to charge $450 or more for video, but it depends and you might have to start out a little lower to get the owners to see that the crowd loves it.

Owners definitely love it, but you gotta let them see first hand what it is you are doing. Half of them think it's just ambient videos flowing over tracks and not actual music videos being manipulated.

Thanks for the reply :)

That's what I was going to charge, now I am charging no less then $300 just audio. I was thinking about another $150 to add video.

That seems about right. I mean I don't gig weekly, but the video gigs I do have definitely pay more than my previous audio gigs.

DO you provide your own projector or connect to their tv's? I'm looking for a cost friendly projector. Sick of finding TV's to plug into. lol Thanks for any advice

Connect to tv's if easily accessible, or bring your own projector until they get to liking it and make them get their own, or help them get their own, if it's your residency.
