Notes On Each Track

I came up with this suggestion whilst trying to remember all the possible variations of mixes one can do and how several tracks can mix into each other and more importantly ones that don't. I would love to play a new set every now and then without having to sweat it out on the night whether one tune is going to go into another. So I think it would be cool if there was a way that you could call up a notepad in which you could create a track list of all the tunes that would mix into that particular song (this track list is obviously input by the user).
I know it sounds like a very strange request, but just imagine you're doing a set on a night and you have bad memory like me. This would not only help but would make it very interesting as you could play almost a different set every night. This is a very simple widgit that would be very easy to implement, but it would be VERY VERY handy.
Obviously I've picked Track List as the feature that I would use this for, but if it's a notepad, you could write whatever you wanted, like....."PHAT TOON!" :o)

I think that's a great idea, I've often thought the same thing myself! You could put the vocal from the track in your notes, or just a brief description of the whole thing. I think it would be extremely handy.

Thanks for your input Risky, it's really appreciated. This feature would make my life and, in my humble opinion, a lot of dj's lives a little easier.
I've been playing around with Serato and I've noticed that when you hover over a song a floating window appears. THIS floating window could be the notepad. Think about it..?!! It would be soooo Cool. Come on Rane/Serato, help us out, stick this feature in. you know it makes sense :o)

this is sort of like the "linked" suggestion that has been around.
But what do you think about this:
scratchlive.net
your notepad could be an actual crate that you move to.

Hi Akiem,
Yeah your suggestion is pretty cool too and similair to what I'm asking for. However, my suggestion isn't about flicking to a crate where the track I could mix is in. In my crates I could have as few as 5 tracks in there or even 500. What I'm simply suggesting is a notepad that has a list that I have entered of what tracks mix into the present track that I'm playing. Generally speaking, I know where the tracks are stored and even if I didn't, I could just use the search facility.
I'm not sure whether it came across clearly. :o)

nah, I understand.
but if you made a list, wouldnt you want the option of playing straight from the list? are you going to type each cut on the note pad, or are you going to drag them there? what I mean is that if you have a list, it might as well be a crate

Yeah Akiem, the list is just a suggestion. My point about crates is that, Crates have more than one track. So how will you know when it links you to the crate, which track in that crate mixes well with that tune...?
I think I get where you're coming from. You are wanting to put all the tracks that mix into that tune into a crate instead of just presenting a notepad with a list. However, if you were to pursue it that way then you would end up with millions of crates. With notes, you can keep your tracks in their original crates labelled, Hip-Hop or even the album the song belongs to, thus reducing the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark effect..!!
I do however, also like your idea. I think there's room for both.

well you can put only one track in a crate
and when we get subcrates, you could put all your lists in one folder.
but yes, a drop down preview of the crate would be good. or back out or link to crate/song. to get back to where you were

Actually Akiem,
I've only just bought the Serato and have got it finally setup and working. It's interesting what you've just said about being able to put only one track in a crate...? I've put my six hours worth of set in one crate. Are you not supposed to do that...? And would you know how I can customise the order of the tracks..? At present it only allows alphabetically or by date or whatever. I just want to put one track after another that I want to mix into. Is this possible..?

iki,
Good suggestions:)
Yes. In order for you to do this you must be in a crate and then click on the '#' column.
Once the '#' column is selected you can drag any track into any spot in the list.
Good suggestions:)
