There is a way to do this with QTZ files.

(we need more data points!)
AKIEM 2:55 PM - 27 June, 2010
I havnt tried it tho
LVN 4:32 PM - 27 June, 2010
wow, AKIEM is this possible ? I am looking forward to google for it but doesn't seems that someone has the answer. :(
AKIEM 4:46 PM - 27 June, 2010
well Im pretty sure I came across a video where they were doing this a while back - I cant find it now.

You can send MIDI from QTZ. And then you would translate MIDI to DMX. I am fairly certain that this can be done right now.

I would help develop a working system but not until we get more data points. I wont bother doing this until we get a way to easily sync the QTZ files with the beats and tempo of a song.
LVN 4:49 PM - 27 June, 2010
I think this is exactly what you re lookin for
mansteri.com

just found it, this guy is translating the QTZ for video... but I feel it is based on the same idea right ?
AKIEM 5:17 PM - 27 June, 2010
well yes, thats what QTZ implementation for VSL is for. VSL will load a qtz file. And you get all the functionality of that QTZ file which does include sending MIDI data.

translating MIDI to DMX is something more.

Im sure there are people on here who work with MIDI and DMX

Hey Team,

Lets get this talk about abit more.

What features would you like? How do you think the work flow will look?

I think the hardest part is creating an editing suit that would make it easy to create lighting shows. Altho once the light show is created it would be done.
The Return of Dj Sparky 2:31 AM - 4 June, 2014
wasn't there a guy looking into this years ago and pulled all the videos
probably wanted to cash in on the idea but i don't think it ever went anywhere
B.Hollywood 3:13 AM - 4 June, 2014
Iv seen the thred where that video was posted and it doesn't look like it been done yet.

I think it would be pretty intense to develope a program that achieves this.

And even then one would have to create a pretty indepth editing software to input the lighting cues. Although if you managed to create a user friendly interface that allowed for easy light show creation an could some how get the information required out of Serato in sure you woul be into a winner.

I wonder how many Djs wanna step up their visuals game. If you could create a light show in around 10 minutes for a lightin rig with around 5 to 10 fixtures I'm sure would put in the work. Well the ones that want to stand out of corse.
the SOUNDINSURGENT 1:43 AM - 20 June, 2014
This can already be done with VDJ and ShowXpress on the PC side. All you do is name your cue points a certain way and when that cue is reached it'll trigger whatever lighting scene you have it set to. Its pretty slick.......
