Very strange behaviour while previewing + bad audio

Hi!
I'm making some playlists for my set tonight. I'm working in SSL1.9.2 and my Rane TTM57 is not connected.
When I preview whitelabel tracks strange things happens:
- when I listen to a normal track and then to a whitelabel track, I hear the previous track through it.
- whitelabel tracks sound VERY degraded, way more than the usual 32kbps when my hardware is not connected.
- when I load a normal track it plays ok, so it seems to be a whitelabel problem
My system:
Macbook Pro (preunibody) 2,4ghz, 4 gigs ram
Macosx 10.5.8
SSL1.9.2
VSL latest version
Right now I can't check how the tracks behave when my rane is connected, but I'll get back for this after the show (well tomorrow at least ;-)
Anyone knows what the problem is?

Ok, show went fine, no problems with playing whitelabel tracks live. Still wondering what the problem is when previewing without hardware connected?

Good to hear the show went fine.
I'm not sure what you mean by "way more than the usual 32kbps", because 32k sounds "very degraded" to me.

Hi thanks for getting back at me. Hope you had a good party ;-) I sure did here in Belgium.
Yeah the tracks sounded really really bad while previewing. Almost like you would put the "bit crusher" effect on them. Definetely worse than the usual 32k sounds.
To make things easier on your other side of the world I used Screenflow to record what happens. You'll find the movie file here:
rapidshare.com
I also uploaded my system profile here:
rapidshare.com
Now I've allready found out a couple of things:
- I downloaded some fresh tracks today and they had no problem.
- all the tracks that do have problems, I (unknowingly) imported them together with all my other non-whitelabel tracks into Traktor Scratch Pro 1.2.3. and analyzed them over there as well. Yes I own/use both programs ;-) Mostly Serato though hahaha
I guess the analyzing done by Traktor corrupts the whitelabel tracks. However, when I play those tracks in Serato with my Rane connected there is no problem.
Now in the video you'll notice:
- When I try to load a whitelabel track first after opening Serato, I hear no sound and the waveform dissapears.
- after that, every WL track I load get the "comment" erased. When I close ssl and reopen, the comment is back untill I load it up again.
- when I play a regular track everything is normal
- when I play a WL after a regular I hear both songs together and they're sounding like minus 500kbps
- the last WL you hear in the video is one I downloaded today, so it hasn't been analyzed by Traktor and it plays totally normal at 32k.
Let me know if I can do anything else to get it fixed.
Again, since they play fine when the hardware is connected it's not such a big deal. But it sure is not so good that I can't preview them anymore. Maybe try things out with different DVS and put a notice on the Whitelabel page that people shouldn't let their files be analyzed by an other system besides ssl.
Greetz,

Hey NLS666,
That is indeed a strange bug, for now I'd definitely recommend that you no longer analyze your Whitelabel files with Traktor.
I see you've also started a help request regarding this issue (www.serato.com), let's continue all correspondence there.
Thanks! :)
