i got a 300 gig maxtor in a usb/firewire enclosure formated to pc. i was using it w/ my pb and it froze serato even tho i built overviews.

to have it run smooth... instant load time, no lag, etc ... does it need to be formated to mac? or should i just upgrade my laptop hd instead of bothering w/ an external? if u say keep the external, run f/w instead to cut down on resources right?

Macs can read Windows NTFS format, but it can't write to it. If you are going to be using it on both Mac and PC on a consistent basis, you should format to FAT32. And yes run it firewire if you can, but I've never had a problem using my USB external drive.

i guess ill just get another external and format it for my mac and transfer files via AIM cuz i dunno hot to network the 2 together lol
