2 Things that could possibly be improved on ITCH/NS7 architecture

zaguama 4:27 PM - 13 January, 2010
Okay, this is my personal opinion so i know a lot of people might not agree with me but here are 2 things that could be improved, its not that they dont work but could be better.

1. The Hot Cue buttons should be lit all the time:
So most of the clubs where i spin at dont have very good lighting at the dj booth so for very dark events it will be great if the hot cues could be permanently lit lets say red all the time and if you had a hot cue set it could be white. So again, all unused hotcues permanently red and all used hot cues white, that way you can find the buttons on very dark clubs, i cant even find the delete :/ and need to use my cellphone to iluminate.

2. Will be great if there was a way to configure the search function to search by default the whole library instead of having to click on the ALL crate first and then go to the search box that way you can just hit CTRL + F and type whatever you need and it will search through the whole library instead of just the current crate. Again, this is just to speed up a little bit instead of having to go to the ALL crate first.
djcerla 4:38 PM - 13 January, 2010
1) asked 10.000.000 times, never had a single answer from Serato/Numark... definitely +1

2) CMD+F searches the whole library, not the current crate :D
zaguama 4:50 PM - 13 January, 2010
Great, then i think im wasting my time posting this hahah, Just another feature request they will add to the ignore list ;)
djcerla 5:03 PM - 13 January, 2010
sooner or later they will answer... :)

the second request that they've NEVER addressed is: LOOP MODE REMEMBERED at NS7 bootup.

my (personal) third outstanding NS7 request is: AUTOMATIC CUE AT SONG LOAD (with jump-to-fader-value when the CUE fader is moved), thus keeping consistency with the other ITCH devices. I'm really bored of moving that fader every time, it just doesn't make sense!!

all together now:

ALL BUTTONS ILLUMINATED!
LOOP MODE REMEMBERED!
AUTOMATIC CUE AT SONG LOAD!
ALLELUJA!

oh yeah, for real man an auto cue will make it a lot easier, totally with you on that one. I remember when i used virtual dj was a nice feature switching your headphones to the deck where you just loaded the song.

As far as the loop mode remembered well when i fire up the ns7 i put kinda go through the faders, reset the pitch to 0, and hit the loop mode to auto, kinda like preparing everything, but will be nice that it will always remember if you use it on auto mode instead of manual.

Well now that you say that why dont we add remembering the pitch range?, i always use it on 16 so i have to change the range everytime i fire up the NS7, so this is all part of my startup routine.
kraal 5:40 PM - 13 January, 2010
you know those are ok feature request but at some point they become petty. so not saying serato is ignoring them but i am sure they put the on a scale and work on them in order of importance.
zaguama 5:42 PM - 13 January, 2010
yeah i agree with you, this features will provide a more comfortable experience but as far as the hot cues illumination goes thats totally an inconvenient man, i mean i can bring a flash light or something but come on, not sure if its so hard to change the code to just make them permanent lit.

Also on the VCI-300, the Denon and arguably the A&H DX... that's why the NS7 implementation is odd. Please guys give us that checkbox, I'd even pay for it :)

surely +1
kraal 6:02 PM - 13 January, 2010
as far as cues lighting up i think maybe numark listened to all the complaining about the vci-300 looking like a video game cause it lights up and decided to not add that. i mean early on people were complaining about the sync light being to bright.
djcerla 7:40 PM - 13 January, 2010
@ kraal

actully not seeing where inactive cues are is very annoying in real world club usage.
kraal 7:46 PM - 13 January, 2010
@ djcerla i agree i am just saying people were very vocal at the begining of hating all those lights cause it made it look like a toy (on the vci-300 ). i also use an ns7 in a club environment and agree on a whole it is way too dark.

i am stating they may of listened not saying listening is always to correct thing to do
djcerla 7:48 PM - 13 January, 2010
Ok, got it.

BTW the white LED is just fine IMHO.
CAW 7:54 PM - 13 January, 2010
Actually, the white lead of the BPM balance rack is way too bright. In the dark, it is a (night) vision killer if you're looking at it as you slide the pitch shift to balance out two tracks.
djcerla 7:55 PM - 13 January, 2010
... but let the Chant go on...

ALL BUTTONS ILLUMINATED!
LOOP MODE REMEMBERED!
AUTOMATIC CUE AT SONG LOAD!
HALLELUJA!

+1 to all this mainly cue button illumination.
can a numark rep explain why they haven't done this?

why doesnt need to be explained really.

the question should be can or will they do it?
zaguama 8:24 PM - 13 January, 2010
i dont have much faith, ive seen many good feature requests along the way and never seen one taken in consideration, they focus on bugs and fixing other type of problems.
kraal 8:50 PM - 13 January, 2010
hmmm the addition of the shift key was a major request that was answered..... and i sure there are a few more ;)
djcerla 9:15 PM - 13 January, 2010
@ zaguama

actually, they have often listened to our requests...

one example: the instant start option.
zaguama 9:54 PM - 13 January, 2010
theres hope then!
Dj Ricky Redz 11:13 PM - 13 January, 2010
it would be cool to see the buttons in white all the time the when u save a cue, it changes to the colour to match the cue

Hey guys.

Sorry if your requests don't always get personal attention. We read most things on the forums (occasionally things may slip by in the banter however).

All feature requests are taken on board, and if there are enough people wanting a certain feature we certainly will bump it up the list. Often feature requests are on our list, and sometimes they are completely new, but possibly easy. Other times, there can be major hurdles, or the dev time needed is more than is needed to implement a bunch of other features, so it may stay low on the radar for a while.

All the devs have been very busy working away on some amazing new and exciting features - and will continue to do so.

Anyhow. Basically, the Serato Gods listen :D
zaguama 1:43 AM - 14 January, 2010
Thanks for checking on us Matt-C. I understand you guys have your priorities and what not, some features like you said require more dev time than others, what we are reporting here and what several users have reported before is something that its just an inconvenient when playing in a dark club. I don tknow how hard could it be to code ITCH to just light up the hotcues permanently, i mean all the rest of the buttons are, but at least doesnt sound like a very complicated thing to accomplish.

Please make the "Serato Gods" hear our prayers. Maybe numark can sell a small modular light bulb for illuminating hot cues :S.

As far as automatic cue on load goes (feature that most of the softwares out there have) would definitely be a plus but i guess its not as bad as not being able to see buttons ;)
BadBoyChubs 1:47 AM - 14 January, 2010
Like wma music files. that is impossible. so guys start converting those files

The cue buttons illuminate when they have a cue set. If they don't there is no illumination.

You guys are suggesting there is a dimmer/very faint illuminated state set for dark club use?

As for this 'in between' state of the lights, I'm not sure, it could be a technical hurdle, or impossible given the hardware. It is on the list, so rest assured it will be looked into :D

As for other suggestions, if there is a hardware restriction on the suggestion it may not be possible unless a satisfactory solution is found.

Cheers.
zaguama 3:36 AM - 14 January, 2010
well when you press delete, all the hot cues light up with the red color so i would assume that its technically possible to have them turned on all the time. What i suggested earlier is that by default all hot cues could be turned on with the red color (if there are no assigned cues) and turn them into white (when you assign a hot cue).

So lets say for example i have in use hot cues 1,2 assigned they are white and then 3,4,5 will be red which are unassigned.

Im i explaining myself?
zaguama 3:39 AM - 14 January, 2010
currently by default all hot cues are not lit which makes it hard to find the buttons in a very dark place if you want to assign a hot cue when mixing.
Dj Ricky Redz 2:59 PM - 14 January, 2010
That would be a very nice upgrade since I've had the very same issue in dark venues.

Another idea would to let the leds blink red-white-red-white... When u press delete!!!

actually. i'm most interested in the dark mode w/ extra buttons illuminated. auto cue not so much. i'm not even sure what a remembered loop would be, doesnt it do that if you set it offline or hit the save/disk near the loop? ***I CARE ABOUT THE LIGHTS MOST***

Not a "remembered loop", a "remembered mode".

if your using AUTO loop instead of MANUAL, then you have to push the MODE button every time you switch the NS7 on; I'm asking for the mode to be remembered.
