Aiight here it is. It took me a minute to figure it all out, but now all my fellow Serato users can take their PowerBooks, MacBooks, iBooks (and I guess PC laptops too) to the next level!

I know a bunch of us sticker our laptops, but I wanted to design a custom decal set specifically to compliment the design of the PowerBook, yet still advertise my style and Serato at the same time...so I tried to make something that was as cool on the outside of my PowerBook as Serato is on the inside. I just didn't realize other people would be into this as much as I was, so when DJ's started asking I figured I'd hit up the board to see if any of my fellow pioneers of Serato were interested in remixing their laptops.

I can't even begin to tell you how dope this looks in person; everything is cut exactly to the PowerBook - even around the glowing apple! In the two weeks that I've been rockin' this at the club...well, let me just say that people have definitely been noticing ;-)

* Rane, I hope it's all right that I used the Rane and Serato logos for my laptop. I figured it was great free advertising. I'd like to be able to hook up everyone on the board who's interested if it's okay with you guys. I won't bend or warp the logos in any manner (per the rules of the 57 shirt contest). For my PowerBook I used the "My Band" shirt design I submitted to the contest, so I hope it's cool with you...

Haha I forgot about this thread!!! Had a ton of emails waiting for me when I checked my email this morning so I'll address some q's:

These are vinyl decals, cut by a vinyl plotter. It cuts according to lines/vectors on solid colored sheets of vinyl. Essentially they are kits of vinyl stickers that are mailed to you and you apply to the laptop. They are in effect permanent, although they aren't too difficult to remove - but once you do they're off for good...

Any PC or Mac can be done, i.e. DJ JD hit me up to do an iMac, gave me the proper measurements and you can see the final results on the link provided by XTC above.

Any questions just email the link provided from the page with your design ideas, logos (preferably in illustrator or EPS format - so I don't have to trace them), and any other info you may have... There are a few up on www.myspace.com or you can view them all at the other link. Thanks for the love head honcho!

Yeah kicko, if you click on the third picture of my own black MacBook and look closely you can see I have my logo in chrome vinyl on the left palm rest area. No problem - I believe I did it for Head Honcho's above as well.

Kicko, I see what you're saying - if you got me the measurements I could just print out some gloss or matte vinyl with your logo cut out in the centers of the palm rest area portions - kind of the opposite of the other designs. Should protect the area and then you could peel it off when your heavy ass mits wear through in 5-10 years ;-)

Mo Rada, sup kid! Nah, you don't have to ship me your lappy. You put them on yourself. If we're in the same area djing or something I will throw em on for you - for example Jay Dabhi and Siz were in the bay and I cruised up there because those ones were hard as hell to do. There are application isntructions included so don't trip out too much Ab-Loon. What I always tell people - if you can DJ, you can put these on.

To clarify again for everyone tuning in now - anything can be done - PC, Mac, 1200's, your dog, cat, Jack Bauer fan coffee mug...

Everyone that has emailed me, I'm banging out your designs as we speak and I will email you the previews when done.

After I catch up on all these I'm going to experiment with making myself a set of control vinyl labels. I'll post pics when that's done, but should be pretty dope if it all works out...

I remember a friend of mind telling me about it months ago cause he has stickers all over his lappy and i told him im tired of my lappy being all white. He told me he read on this forum about custom vinyl stickers but i totally forgot to check.

He designs it, you can give him whatever ideas/logo's you need and tell him what your looking for, I had no idea so he just made something up for me and it came out sick!

kind of confused by that question amf. The stickers came in the color you see. Nothing different, it looks exactly like that in real life.

I think I know what you mean, that grey you see is just a background, the stickers are all separate, kind of like the ones you have made at those carts in the mall. Mine came with 5 or 6 different ones and you just layer them accordingly.

Got mine on yesterday.

Took about 30 - 45mins to put it on because mine has alot of little dots and whatnot so I had to do it slow to make sure I got everything on right. The hardest part was getting everything exactly straight. Overall a real easy task and im real happy with the outcome, ill post some pics up next week but basically it looks exactly like the above link I posted.

I cant wait for mine to show up today. Since I have nothin to do during tha day today Im waiting at tha door for tha package like a anxious dog waiting for its master to get home. I showed tha design to a couple friends at tha club last nite....Holla....I think you should pay ME for advertising you! hahahhaha jk

Thats the hardest part ab-loon, putting it on exact and making sure all the little pieces stay put.

Haha it doesn't have to be exactly straight - perfection isn't really necessary since it's kind of a freestyle looking thing anyway. For small parts that are stubborn and stay on the cover tape I will just take some tweezers and put them on by hand.

After you get it on take a hair dryer and heat it up - it'll help solidify it. Put a piece of paper over it and take a credit card or something squeegee-like and rub over it. I keep a piece of paper in my headliner backpack so when I slide my lappy in the small parts don't catch on the felt or anything.

MANNNN.....I just got tha package and now im REALLY SCURRRED to put it on. Im debating goin to tha mall and asking those foo's that make stickers for your car windows to do it for me...haha.

Sorry holla but tha only thing my hands are good for is mixing and makin tha girlies happy (sometimes) HAHHAHA. But other than that I dunno if i could do this myself and for tha price i paid for it i dont wanna F it up...you know!

Loon I said the same shit when I got mine but after talking to holla I got some confidence and did it and it's PERFECT! Just go for it man, the thing that overwhelmed me was his directions but I just went ahead and put them on like I put on all stickers that are like that. You just have to find out what one goes on the bottom and so on and you should be set.

I dont wanna get you scurred XTC. But I just cant get tha main part of my piece right. I havent put it on yet. Its just not commin off tha cover paper it comes with right. Im guessing Im doin something wrong...but I dunno what. Holla was absolutely helpful and did everything he could to fix tha problem...but Im pretty sure Im tha problem. Since I dont want to this work of art....I think Im gonna give up and take it to a decal place and see if they can help me. it sucks cause i hate giving up but I spent a lot of money on this thing and I dont wanna fuck it up...u know!

yeh...i messed up with one pieces and actually gettin it right...when i knew i was messing it up..i called my best frend who is an architect and he deals with stuffs like this all the time..he came down n put it on for me...and edited here n there to make it look good...as u can see from the pic...few things fell out of places...but he edited it and made it fine...but its all good..for a sec i thought..i shud have asked holla to send me a spare of everything lol! those decals r like the EMINEM 8 MILE tune..."opportunity comes once in a life time yo" lol...if u try takin it off it will stretch! take 5 hours dnt matta but do it right..it took 1 hour to put ma stuffs on!

For dell inspiron users...i suggest you get a dell snap on cover...i use a carbon fibre snap on! and you have the decals protected from dust,scratches and all the other bullshit! and it looks new everytime u unleash it in the club! snap on cover comes off easy and it cost like 35 pounds!
