Traktor team at NI has released a handy software tool....

This allows Serato users to convert their dj collections, including cue points and loops, into the Traktor format. What do you guys think... is anyone using traktor rite now?
Dj Ace 2:05 AM 9 January 2010
nope...there are all in the traktor forums now

This was a smart move on NI's part. There are a lot of Serato users out there, and one of the roadblocks to switching is having to re-process your entire library to re-set cues & loops. If Serato was smart, they would make a similar tool to import Traktor database information.

The fact that all these DJ systems are using separate proprietary ways of tracking cues/loops/etc is really becoming more of a hindrance to users now as more and more systems become available. It's not just the different DJ software packages, but the library management tools for hardware platforms as well. E.g., Rekordbox for the Pioneer CDJ-2000/900, whatever the tool is for the MEP-7000, Denon Music Manager for the S3700/5500, etc.

I know for me, personally, having to rebuild cue/loops in Rekordbox is a huge turnoff for trying to "leave the laptop at home". As such, I've only got a tiny selection of stuff on USB for the CDJ-2000 just as an emergency backup. My primary library is, and will continue to be, for Serato.

wow. if 2.0 doesn't do the trick for my loops and quantization, i may end up using this and transition to traktor. thx for the post!

is there a tool similar to NI's or is Serato team working something out. I user Traktor heavyly but would like to use Serato with fellow dj's too.

What's needed is someone to create a universal format for Cue points and Loops... Let's face it we all have our favorite software. I know it's far fetched but good idea... When I had CDJ-2000's I did a lot of work in Rekordbox... It would have been nice if I was able to carry the information over to the program I'm currently using.

a few of the internet record pool sites have tracks already in serato format with cues built in... i'd say serato is the standard...

It's a convenient tool. Now Serato should make one for importing Traktor Pro's library.

ive been using i12inch.com lately.. they are DJ-friendly tracks with 8 and 16 bar beat intros already analyzed and serato CUEs are set for 8 bars and 4 bars from where the song drops.
