Itch and 320kps

Turntable Wiz 9:30 PM - 18 December, 2009
I have a Numark ns7, and just dicovered my downloaded tracks put into i-tunes is @ 32kps, I use my i-tunes library for itch. I just read the article about how to get the 320 quality and i've done all the steps but it does not save it to my i-tunes whitelable file and I lose all the songs put in there from itch after the program is closed. I don't want to have to pull the file from my music library and put it in a file to use the tracks and just lose it, all my playlists are in i-tunes I don't use the crate system it seems redundant.

Ok been reading some stuff, so I put all the whitelable stuff in I tunes, so does that mean when I'm using itch with my ns7 the tracks from whitelable will play in 320 but won't show it in I-tunes as that? I will only get that quality when plugged in?

ITCH should play out the full 320kbit version of a Whitelabel track when your NS7 is connected. You should still be able to use iTunes to manage your playlists.

If you edit ID3 tags for the Whitelabel tracks in iTunes, make sure that the file doesn't dramatically shrink in size. If it does (meaning iTunes bugged out re-writing the ID3 tags), you'll only be left with the low-quality 32k version of the track and have to re-download the file from Whitelabel. For safety's sake, while you may manage your playlists in iTunes, you might want to do your ID3 tag editing for Whitelabel tracks from within ITCH.

when I got to get info on the track for whitelable it just shows 32k version, and all I did was add folder to I-tunes from my whielable downloaded folder.

I have never touched an id3 tag either

ok, just checked all the bitrates on Itch and all whielable downloads are 320 in it just not in i-tunes itself. Just had to keep doing what I was doing, sometimes too much info is harmful. lol

To everything but ITCH and SSL, Whitelabel tracks will look like and play back as a 32k MP3. That includes iTunes, Finder's "Get Info" option, etc. The high-quality 320k version is "hidden" inside the file as a custom ID3 tag. That is why some apps can destroy the high-quality version when editing ID3 tags. They see an unknown tag and discard it, rather than copying it through to the new file when writing out new tags.

(At least I believe they are using a custom ID3 tag to store the high-quality version based on various posts that Serato folks have made to the forums here.)

Hello all, i was just reading the forum on the 320k. I think its great that there thinking of quality over quantity. I don't even like to play anything under 192k. Believe me, you'll be able to hear the difference after playing for a while. peace out from Detroit.

Why does it preview even in Scratch Live in 32k (hardware disconnected)?

Also, I still wanna jam out while in the car but i'm stuck with the 32k version. Is there a solution to this issue?
Whats the point of it being 320k but only in hidden format?

Besides this issue, still loving whitelabel. Love the new trax.

That's a protection mechanism.

Anyone can download and install ITCH or Scratch Live but Whitelabel.net files only play in high quality for people who have actually purchased hardware supported by Serato DJ software.
