Best way to record your set

Dj Green T 5:39 PM - 16 December, 2009
I was wanting to know what you guys use to record your set? I want it just for backup in case I need to put a mix on if something comes up. Not sure if I should go with software or hardware to record. What's the most reliable, easy, and cheapest way?

Thanks Guys,

me personally what i do is go into my computers sound card settings and locate the variable used to manipulate the external input into the laptop and set it to recieve a signal from an external source, then what i do is run a red and white audio cable with the ability to transfer electrical signals from Source A(mixer) to Source B(laptop) then i use an adapter to turn both cables into a male and female end I then use a Y splitter crossover cable to take the 2 didgital mono signals and convert them into a stereo signal which leads into input A on my laptop...insert Cord end A into input A and select source 1 from group 1 as an inpuit in your OS settings at this point you should use the search button to find answers to questions that have been beat to death and adjust the output on your mixer to an acceptable volume. If youve done this correctly open the volume controls on source B and make sure Source B input 1 is unmuted and recieving a proper signal from source A. Youll need input recording software such as audacity which you will need to install and configure to work with your OS softwares preferences. With this configured play a source file from Source 1 and the signal should travel to Source B and show up as useable stereo sound. Now adjust the levels of output of source A and the levels if Source B so no harmonic clipping occurs. Now hit the record button on source B and if all settings and preferences are correct you should now be recording the signal produced by source 1 through the Y cable and adapters into Surce B.

I use an m-audio mobilepre audio interface
www.m-audio.com

In conjunction with adobe auditon 3
www.adobe.com

The interface came with software, but I like Adobe Audition better. I guess that I'm just used to cool edit pro, since I've been using it for so long.
