Recording Mixes On Macs

dj trends 9:24 PM - 19 November, 2009
I've always used a PC and I have always used cool edit or Adobe Audition. A couple of months ago i got an imac and i am having a really hard time getting going with recording. I started with adobe audition on VMware, and that didn't work. I switched to bootcamp. It works but not all of the time. Sometimes the audio is clipping out of one side and then flat on top of the other side... BTW i record directly in with a Y cord.

Any suggestions of a interface that would work well on bootcamp or a mac program that works as well or better than adobe audition?

I think running a PC recording program via bootcamp is a mistake - there are plenty of programs that are native to mac OS that work great, including Garage Band. I personally use Ableton Live to record my mixes, so I can add drops and mark CD tracks post recording, but have used garage band successfully as well. Many people on this forum use audacity, which I think is free and works well.

audio recorder with the lame mp3 plug in, or record to wave.

simple, efficient and not a resource hog.

I personally used Peak LE before going to itch that has built in recording. I was very happy with Peak and will probably upgrade to the full edition and use it for editing. Have ableton also but just too many buttons in the cockpit.....
