SSL Dongle?

Now that there are so many MIDI mixers with built-in sound cards, would Serato be interested in designing a dongle with of course security measures to protect them against piracy, where DJs can still enjoy SSL without having to bring the SL1 or SL3 to play?

I would say not likely. We don't have quality control over the other manufacturers.

This has been discussed a few times, I think besides the quality control if you just created a USB key to unlock the program it wouldn't take long for it to be reverse engineered and copied.

on a slight tangent here, since SSL won't work in the CDJ2000's without hardware, will ITCH be able to utilise the in built sound card on the Pioneer players without any hardware (from Vestax, Numark etc...)?

What if Rane were to make something similar to this?

I doubt it would, Serato use the SL-1/SL-3/57SL as a way to only allow licenced use of scratch live. To open up ITCH to be used on the CDJ-900/2000 just seems like another way of skipping that security.
Anyway, doesn't using DVS with a 900/2000 defeat the whole purpose of those players?

^^ not really, because for me a laptop with SSL/ITCH is infinitely better to use than the CDJ2000 interface, but I would love to use the players for control only, and plugging in 1 usb cable vs rewiring at the back of a mixer is very attractive!!
