Mixing of LATIN / TIMBA / SALSA

Hi,
I have one question concerning mixing of latin/salsa and especially timba-music. Basically I´m able to spin the whole night through without any stress and mix salsa/timba, bachata...With my new VCI300/ITCH it´s even easier to run the fiesta.
BUT as I have no TT/HIP HOP background I had never the chance to train mixing-techniques like a Hip Hop Dj f.e..
Especially the changes between hot timba and slower tunes are not so easy. I want to learn how to use all the features of the VCI300/ITCH to create cleaner, more modern and more interesting mixes. I got a lot of music; I know my music very well and I know perfectly how to guide the crowd through the night BUT I need to train more with the hardware.
It would be nice if you would share your experience with me WHERE TU FIND TUTORIALS OR WHAT KIND OF TECHNIQUES YOU WOULD CHOOSE IN THAT CASE
THANK YOU and
PEACE

hmmmm. Is your main question about transitioning from styles of music? There are many ways to do it. Mostly, most people dabble within the BPM range they are playing. if you DJed on SSL, the SP6 helps alot with transitions, if you got good sweepers and sound fx.

Yess, youtube and google are very useful tools. I already know all the features of VCI300 but the main question is the transition from styles and rhythmns.
afro-cuban grooves base on quite dificult rhythmic patterns. Many timba songs start smoothly and finish really hot.
F.e when I start with a romantic salsa from PR, keep on with a nice driving salsa dura and finish with a timba-beast of charanga habanera - following I want to keep the party burning with nice beats but less speed - therefore I choose a reggaeton from Gente de Zona; and so on...
The question is in that case how to mix the timba into the reggaeton... that´s the thing I want to improve
...I really enjoy the mixes of DJ Melao or DJ Sama (Miami)

Charanga Habanera, Gente de Zona. Wow, you really know good latin music.
Most non Cuban people in the states never heard of these groups.

The only thing that works is try try try. It take's long to find the right songs or loop's. As a help you can start to use mixing in Key or RE to improve.

Well in salsa i don't think that practice will get you to the point where it will sound so good that you say Yeahhh. Think different and use technology :-) You can not mix timba and have maybe 2 loops in time and then fade into your next song. Maybe there are some guy's that are able to do it but not the whole night.
PS I am in Hamburg now :-) will update my profile
