I use to have the macbook pro that had dvi port. So my setup at the club was with a dvi to video adapter. Now I have the new unibody and the port is a mini display.. Does mac not have a mini display to video video adapter?? If not what is the cheapest route to go?

Keep in mind that the previous MBP you owned would translate the signal internally from digital to analog (which is what I believe you are referring to as video adapter, the yellow or s-video adapter). The new one you have ONLY outputs digital signal so if you are going to that same connection you will need something to translate to analog.
Hope that makes sense...

the reason i was trying to go with the yellow cable or s-video is because the club that i dj at originally had another setup for playing videos that had all the tvs connected to an rf modulator?
Basically all the tvs came to this little box going into the cable spot that says "to tv" and the only other spots left to plug in were either yellow vable or s-video.
I'm looking at the aver media quickplay, and i dont see how i can connect it to the cable.. I'm going to have to buy all new cables that are compatible to vga?

question about the quickplay: does it use that USB connection to get power for the unit or does it actually talk to the computer in some capacity. I don't have extra USB ports and would ideally like to just use a little AC to USB power adapter thing from walmart (or used to charge blackberries, etc) to power the unit and only plug in the VGA into my serato computer.

its because i use an 800 with midi which makes it 1 port for serato, 1 for midi, 1 for hard drive (used primarily on video shows which makes sense why the quickplay would be used at the same time)
