hmm, sort of see your point, but surely it would be all about planning as well as tech skill? c2c work out their sets with mp3 software like serato and then press em for the dmc's.

i'd rather see some serato/57 jams like 'tableturns' etc... or huge orchestras of turntables and mpcs.

you always see the best stuff at jams, cause there is no pressure and people are willing to try and push themselves a bit further. IMO

i realise you can prepare all kinds of stuff in advance on mp3s!! some might see that as cheating, but i see it as being creative! and the next man can do that too. so it can be fair!

always wondered about the gold plated shizzle you get for winning the dmc's. does craze have like 3 whole setups that are gold plated? dex, mixer, needles? must look fucking cheesey.

i know he doesn't use them at home cause he's so looked after by stanton. and i hazard a guess that most other competitors favour rane or vestax mixers over the technics.

as far as im aware there are very few 57's in the uk and so a battle would be a bit of a joke. a fine idea maybe to set up video/worldwide battles posted on here using youtube or something. 6 minutes, standard video angle.... voting on this forum. rane could offer prizes and have a wealth of 57 footage to promote the product with.

my idea originally was just using serato itself, and the ttm56, or similar mixer!
i dunno, i think it could work,, just as another battle comp, like vestax or the dmc,, except you can use your lappy!!!

If we have to use the 56/57 then alot of people wont be able to participate i only have ssl i use the stanton sa3 mixer simple and solid i could write rane on it (sorry if thats faux-pa)or lay a blank faceplate over the surface.

I want to see a cheese and crackers built set of turntables and a mixer for the next winner of DMC....yummy.

this is an excellent idea imo. I've been djing digitally for many yrs, first with FS now with SSL. Over that time, my interest in turntablism has grown along with my skills. Back in the day when I was buying vinyl all the time, putting a scratch routine together to enter the competition would have been easy. But now that I'm pretty much all digital, when competitions come up (DMC/ITF/Guitar Center/local etc), i'm stuck with no music to play or not having the new hotness. No competitions allows laptops/digital djing. I can understand why... but with djing evolving so do our methods of determining the best. I think this is where Rane/Serato come in.... maybe have Shure as a partner like DMC has Ortofon.

im trying to put a routine together for this years upcoming dmc,, will be my first attempt,, but again,, ive been digitally djing for a couple of years now and not buying vinyl.so i gotta make do with the older stuff i have and try to do something special with it!
im sure alot of djs are now saying the same thing.
serato has dicouraged us from buying vinyl like we did before,, so they need to give us another medium involving scratchlive, and other partners such as dmc shure or whoever!!
