Recording with the 57

BattleFunk 9:09 PM 17 August 2006
Am I right in thinking the 57 can record from 2 seperate channels in to 2 seperate files on to the pc at the same time? eg. during a mix.

I've tried a couple of ways aswell as looked at the manual and searched this forum, but I cant seem to work out if this mixer can record 1 mix in to 2 seperate tracks

I might have got mixed up somewhere along the lines, but I'm sure this mixer is able to do that?

I want to start putting together a mixtape and to do it I'll need either 20 hands and a lot more equipment, or the ability to record 2 seperate channels at the same time in to 2 seperate files (so I can put them in to Acid or Cubase and edit them later)

currently, this cannot happen while SSL is open. Just you daw and using analogue signals from the 57. Try searching on this, we have covered it MANY MANY times.

Thanks for the reply DJK

So in order to do it, I would have to setup an SL1 to take care of the music and connect the mixer to a seperate pc to take care of the recordings?

If that would work, how would I record the 2 signals seperatly?

And I have searched alot on this and read rather a large amount, but I've yet to find anything that has halped me, maybe you could point me in the right direction?

Yes :-( This is a major drawback in my eyes. Why going through another a/d/a conversion if we could have it all digital. Check my suggestion here scratchlive.net <- click.

Aye, until this gets fixed, and they allow us all the effects customization, especially footswitch on, the 57 is still an incomplete product in my eyes. Not that I need to tell nik this since we are both aware of each others gripes, and share most of them. At least others who feel like we do can voice up there opinion, and get results.

Let's face it, I was getting down right obnoxious with my requests for reletive drift mode, but now thats fixed, and I am sertiously soooooo greatful.

I hope they keep fixing things before they go on to add more, that has been there ethos, and it has put em on top of the game.

I totally agree. The 57 doesn't feel like the product that was promised in the original specs that were posted. I'm really hoping to see the separate track recording feature and the ability to turn effects on with the pedal implemented soon. What's the status on these features?

Serato have said right from the beginning that the seperate track recording feature wouldn't be available at launch. To me the 57 feels like a product that can only get better over time as more features are added. I don't think there is any other mixer on the market that offers this level of added value.

Guys

I dont like the recording on the TTM. Its sounds weird. Pops and crackles. Last time i used the TTM my recording was clean, Now with 162 beta its not great.

Does anyone have this problem

don't know how to start new topic.
can 57 do what the scratch live interface does.
ie: does it replace the scratch live interface box, any way of getting analogue audio from each deck channel out of the 57.
fx send i suppose?
could it replace the scratch live interface box?
can i get a 57 & sell my scratch live interface box?

Yes.
57 will work as a stand alone mixer
yes 57 can be used like the sl1 box infront of a mixer.the 57 comes with the software and control vinyl/CDs. so yes you could sell your SL1 but I wouldn't.
