yea...i got the Red, Blue, and Orginal Black....just because i needed new ones. Black is always nice...but the colors will be nice.

I called the 3 guitar centers in my area and they said they havent ever heard of colored vinyl so probably wont be for a bit at least (in mass that is)

i use the technic scratch mats that are black. i would imagine a lighter (perhaps white) scratch mat would bring out / stand out the new colored control wax. anyone gots pics with em new colors on their ttables?

I just called my best friend that works @ GC and he has a RANE contact and I asked him to ask about the colored vinyl. I wouldn't mind having the RED or BLUE and it's cheaper to pick it up from the store as shipping is $7 and tax would be cheaper.

i still thank that this is something that they might only be selling on the web....at least for now. As long as the stores are carrying the regualr black CV...then the store shouldn't have a problem dealing with the customers.

For every product that comes out, its just another decision as to how they deal with distribution as well as the National Chains Having to place an order. It doesn't happen overnight. The only way i could see Samash or GC having them is if Rane told them about it a while back, and had the orders already placed before they came out. Then i could see it being in the stores.

For example...Look at the power cords they have on the site.....i dont see those in the stores.

Only time will time if GC or Sam Ash gets them. I'm pretty sure if the demand is there then they may very well get pushed to stores.

Well if you really think about it its probably worth it.
Most of us, I would assume wouldnt use these in the crib. We'd probabaly save them for gigs, so they wont get that much wear compared to the black ones that are used at home and at gigs. So they will last longer (they will for me) so i dont mind the mark up that much.

$15 a record is a great price, here in the UK a standard black control vinyl cost £14 ($26)

You dont need to waste personal time going to the store. Once you get there, it takes forever to get helped because they deal with so much crap as it is.

IAnd the shipping isn't THAT bad at $7. Average gas price is at least $3 in the US. so if you live like 10 miles from the guitar center....round trip is equal to about a gallon of gasoline. O yea....and dont forget about the depreciation of your vehicle.

E, the normal ones cost $10 here. Now imagine you have to pay £21 for the colored ones. Nice ;)

However, I'll cop them once they are available in Germany.

One thing to note is that colored vinyl does not last as long as the regular black vinyl. Never knew why but this is what our pressing plant used to tell us. If Serato goes to the next level and gets the solid colors (rather than translucent) expect a reduction in sound quality (which may or may not effect the control signal).

For those of you who did not see the 2nd posting on the news link, we sold out of the colored vinyl in less than 24 hours and removed the posting from our website. We are trying to get more of the colored vinyl, but based on the following message that we received from our supplier, we won't be able to get much more:

"Last week we were notified by our vinyl compound manufacturer that they are (already) not making any more vinyl compound. They sold the last of their colored vinyl and had none to sell. I must say, it's been ....interesting around here...
we have alternative black sources, but not colored vinyl..."

We are investagating alternate sources.

Damn, if they are no longer going to make SSL Control vinyl, then i'm so shit out of luck. Without it SSL is of no use to me.

There is NO problem with supply for the standard BLACK Vinyl. The supply problems are for the compounds for COLORED Vinyl.

If they are transparent or translucent...whatever....does that mean that you can:

1. Put Red on top of Blue to get PURPLE
2. Put Blue on top of Yellow to get Green
3. Put Yellow on Top of Red to get ORANGE

My best friend who works @ Sam Ash asked the Rane rep about these joints for me and the guy told him that they had sold out in a matter of 12 hours. I'll wait till they reup because my buddy can get for about $6-$7 a record.

Nope, they said their old supplier sucks royal arse (translation: doesn't have any more colored vinyl), but that they (Rane) are on the case looking for another source..

That is true. There is even a glow in the dark one out right now. I think finding a supplier of quality colored vinyl is the problem though. Its hard to move from pressing at the top plant (RTI) to a lower quality place.

preheat oven to 350, put red & white vinyl w/o sticker in oven for 20 minutes. let cool on cookie rack and put a sticker on.

I was supposed to get two gold CV's when I bought my 57, but Pro Sound ran out and they gave me red :T

Nope, I asked them about it when I picked up my 57. I asked if it was a misprint and they said nope. This was in early January.

Those bastards! I just looked it up to show you guys, but it's $14 now. They got blue and gold, too. But I swear to you that's what it was going for on their site. I think they said it was rare or it wasn't for sale separate from buying SSL/TTM057 or something like that.

White, or Clear are the only ones I would consider if they were available again. OG black is my favorite.
