I am POSITIVE (I hope!) that I connected all the cords correctly ... I'm no dope ... I installed the program on my MacBook Pro (!!) ... it senses the USB cord and whatnot (without connecting to my DJ setup, it says "Interface Disconnected" ... so I know it's reading it.
Then I go to the first step of "estimating" the background noise and I get nothing .... then when it tells me to start my turntable to get the green circles on the computer ... nothing happens. It's not receiving any signal.
Are you supposed to have the mixer's "Phono/Line" switch to "Phono," right? And how high do you turn up your faders? I've cranked 'em, and while it's sending out a high-pitched squeal, my computer's not getting anything. But you keep the volume down? Or not? Nothing seems to be working, even though everything's set up correctly.
I'm also running everything through a Pioneer EFX-500, but none of the effects are on. Could this be the reason? When I connected directly to my amp (my stereo), I still get nothing ...
What to do?

Make sure you are going from line on your mixer to line on the SL1 same with phone.
make sure the line switch is on on the mixer...
try doing it without the efx first...see what happens

um if your running your outs of the mixer to the efx and then to the amp the efx should be on since its becoming passive audio..
and your phono/line switch should be to line when using serato and phono when using vinyl
that high pitch your listening to is the time code on the serato control records

No - it only says "interface disconnected" if it's NOT connected ... therefore, I know it's connected .... get it? Sorry to be confusing ......
I'll try it without the EFX box again ... but it's strange that it wasn't working ..... do EFX boxes usally effect the program???

are you using version 1.5 or higher? (earlier versions don't work with new macbooks)

did you load the program from the disc? download the newest version of the software (1.6.1) and use that. it should solve your issue. mister ill is correct in his statement, and that sounds like your issue.

I think that is your problem. I read on a thread that if you have one of the new macbook's you have to have 1.5 or higher or somethin liket hat bekause it is kompatible with the mac intel chip
