Yeah, I saw a few days ago and didn't even bother bringing it up. Unless all you guys and girls can roll like that...

yeah,,,$2500 for the base tower is a lot of money. If you are into high end stuff, then it is worth it, but not just to run SSL and edit a couple of songs. Apple needs to come out with an entry level tower that's priced like Dell's for $500-$600. The Mac mini just isn't cutting it

lol take a mac mini and put it in that sleek silver tower

I am going to pick one up to run Logic Pro and my new Apogee Ensemble. Right now I am using them with the iBook G4 that I use SSL on. Really excited, but I am going to wait a few weeks to make sure that there arent any major issues. I am going to get the config that comes out to 2500.

My first Mac was a IIci in 1991. Upgraded from the base configuration to 8mb RAM and a 105mb internal hard drive, it was nearly $5,000 with a student discount. The external 1-gig SCSI hard drive was another $2,500.

THAT was a "lot of money".

I just feel that if Apple created a decent tower with 1 intel chip a regular 7200rpm hard drive (Not a laptop drive like the Mini has) and regular 512mb ddr2 memory (Not laptop memory like the Mini, and a decent video card,,,they may draw in even more users. If a person was going to debate between a Dell that just runs XP or a Mac that can run XP and OSX, I think more people would choose the Mac tower, But not for $2500, Maybe $600 like the Dell's are priced at. The Mac Mini is a good alternative but it is definately not a replacement for a tower which has better hardware and is upgradeable

there have been talks about this for a long time now. from what i read 50cent is pushing apple to create a model like this for under privilaged kids and if there is enough buzz on this model it should be sold in stores

holy shit,,,I thought you were kidding, but here is an article on it:
www.appleinsider.com

And correction from my statement 2 up

""""""and regular 512mb ddr2 memory (Not laptop memory like the Mini)"""""

The Mac mini from what i see, does not use "Laptop" type memory
