ok, i've been living with the 57 for a little while now and i think what would make me most happy is a dedicated hardware control for the effects. i picture a little box about the size of a pioneer efx unit with a couple usb ports on it and it would get in-line between the laptop and the 57.

the little box could be used to get at the effects at any time and better visuals of what the effects are doing.

two things about the effects in the mixer that are not really working for me:

1. you have to get into group 6 to use them (clunky and error prone when quick mixing)

2. you really need to have the hardware panel up to use the effects with any confidence. on a 12 inch powerbook this is clunky as well.

A little box would solve all of this. Yes, I could buy a Pioneer efx but that would bypass all the rest of the stuff that IS cool about having the effects IN THE MIXER. Make no mistake, I like the effects living in the mixer, I just wish there was a better way to control them and I wish there were more of them.

While not a bad idea, do not think I want yet another box, but controlling the effects needs to be made much more friendlier on the current hardware.

I totally gave up try to using them after a few embarrasing incidents.

I also rarely use the effects in their current iteration, even though they sound very nice, because it is not very intuitive to use them. I think an extra box, though a good idea at face value, I do not like the idea of carrying yet another peice of kit. But I do feel that the effects control is something that needs to be simplified and more intuitive, and I am looking forward to whatever new effects are in the works.

1.6.2 is out in public beta ... In 1.6.3 we'll be working on making the effects more friendly
