It would be sweet to record all except the mic for all of us who either don't like our mc or want him out of the mix. This would be very helpful!!!!!

no one feels me on this...... recording live is a great way to make mix tapes.... plz add the record all but mic feature. my mc sucks and no one wants a mix that has some drunk dude yelling dumb shit on it haha

I think it's a great idea, and I'd also like to have a way to not have the "mic" input appear on the "booth" outputs AND "dim" the whole booth level by 12dB or so (like on Rane's MP-44).

Unfortunately, I suspect these changes would require modifications to the hardware design.

Why don't you try getting rid of your MC and getting a better one? :oD
Or just give him an unconnected mic and say it's wireless. He's happy and you're too.

Just kidding. I wouldn't really benefit from this, but I don't think it's impossible. All the "mixing" is being done internally by the DSP I guess. The recording utility allows you to select which audio to record (channel 1 post, channel 1 Pre, channel 2.... all channels). So maybe this is just a matter of firmware to add a tap where the 2 channels are already mixed, but the mic hasn't been included yet...

Yeah I agree. If we can channel 1 or 2 seperate. Then some firmware can prob do the trick..

Did anyone ever find a way to do this? I would very much like to record a mix without the mic being recorded. Seems like it should be easy enough?

I rarely ever hook my mic directly into the DJ mixer. In fact, I only do it when I have no other choice or if I want to use SSL's livefeed feature. Sure, it means you need a dedicated mixer for the mic, and/or a dedicated channel on the mixing desk that the mixer etc are all plugged in to, but this is something I've always just lived with.

I still like to record the mic if I can, but I like to have it on a seperate channel, so I can remove it if I want, or create vocal samples from the acapella.

So yeah, it would be nice to be able to do it through SSL, but now The Bridge is out, I'm wondering if it can be done through that somehow? In fact, I'm almost certain it could. If even the mixtape feature can seperate the channels, surely it separates the mic and auxiliary channels too?

couldn't you record it as the "abelton" file type and then edit out the MC in ableton?

I think you can with recording .als I posted this a long time ago. I really don't have an mc anymore.
