Is it just me....

Everytime I bring my serato to a gig it starts acting up. I spend endless hours before a gig to calibrate it right so it doesnt screw up but it just does. some how in the scopes it will tell me its not grounded when it is grounded. Just the other day at a club the sound was gone for a minute and it was embaresing.

When Im at my house practicing this thing runs like a beauty and can go days with out acting up.

Sammy J 12:51 AM - 7 August, 2006
could be..... i believe its just my luck cause i used serato on my boys turntable at a house party i djed last week and 45 minutes into my set it started acting up

I'd suspect the equipment and not SSL. If it's working just fine at home and the only difference is the mixer and TT's I wouldn't be blaming SSL....

heavy bass in the club messing with the read of the control vinyl?
Or just crappy gear at the club?
by the way - what mode are you spinning in? rel/abs?
djxatl 3:23 AM - 7 August, 2006
oh yeah when u do your thresholds at the club do it with something playing on the speakers
Dj KaGeN 3:29 AM - 7 August, 2006
set that threshold when it's bangin!! but I'd think you'd see some USB lights coming on to forewarn you of trouble....

- just to confirm, u r using different ttables & needls at tha club (meaning, you've left yours at home?)... if you've calibrated "at home"

- in addition to the massive interference bass has on the quality of your control sig from ttable, clubs r usually quite dirty, meaning, at home your control wax may stay cleaner, while at the club you've got smoke machines, humidity from tha sweaty dancefoor.....then there's crap that rumble loose from the ceiling, all falling on to your wax, creating hella dust/dirt particles, all speed bumps to your needles.

Ran into an issue with that once. i had to run the first 30 minutes in internal mode until my homie ran home and grabbed my second pair of needles. after i made the switch it worked fine. also recalibrated my set with the club setup.

(... i forgot to complete my sentence)

u must re-calibrate at the club as well, since the environment (venue sound system/ttable/needlez/wiring) will be different
