MIDI Turntable (optical cartridge + mix videos)

This is very interesting... it uses an optical cartridge and adapts to your current turntables! It's supposed to mix videos but I guess you can also mix audio files. I'm kind of confused, I think it's only a controller but doesn't include any software right? What do you think?

Looks cool, but I need more info on it, and want to see it live. I didn't see any video demos of it in action. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Looks like a microwave.

Yes, it comes with software. The software is called ScratchTV and only allows the manipulation of quicktime videos. That's right - no mpg, no avi (using a codec other than quicktime), and no vob.

Interesting in it's own right but I want to see it in action...

But I'm more interested in the Scratch FU Videos... that would be Suh-WEET to use... just drop some music in the background and scratch the Kung Fu fighting...

holy crap - the potential of this (assuming it works flawlessly like SSL) is incredible. since it outputs midi, you should be able to control anything that 'talks' in a whole new way. imagine "scratching" a filter sweep... i cant imagine it, thats why this would be interesting. i wonder if this can somehow react to fader movements as well

On the website it says:

"What formats are supported by ScratchTV?
ScratchTV is built on the Quicktime media architecture. It supports most file formats, including .MOV, .AVI, .MP3, .AIFF, .WAV, and more, working with audio, video, and virtual reality. Certain formats and codecs exhibit better playback performance than others; we recommend Quicktime video using Photo-JPEG and uncompressed audio for the best response."
