Mike, I think they are referring to mixing boards and other components used in the studio.

yup - those are beautiful desk mixers. i've mixed on one of the older ones when i was studying audio engineering, but of course everyone has their preferences when it comes to desk mixers. but as far as i know, these are one of the most widely recognised brands

Those SSL boards are awesome. Don't look at the prices, though, if you have a weak stomach...
